The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, Januar y 19, 2022 D-3 Independent Independent because God is unwilling to lead us further into His truth? Most assuredly not. It is because so many men of God in high places no lon- ger have the single passion to know God's Word and to make it known. They could be as greatly used of God in teaching the Scriptures as their predecessors were, but they are "slothful of hearing" and hence can present their hearers with little that is of true value. This, in turn, is reflected in the religious masses. They "love" their Bibles, but not enough to study them dili- gently and become workmen whom God can approve. Let us not be numbered among these. Rather, let it be our one great desire to gain a clear understanding of God's Word, rightly divided — for His sake, for our own sake and for the sake of the needy souls about us. think God had plans for me way back, whenever I was a skunk of a person. He never gave up on me and I wouldn't dream of ever trying it with- out Him. Well enough about my for- mer life so let us talk about what last week was like for me. To start out with I got to witness the big semi truck and about three or four po- lice vehicles with flashing lights assisting the driver out of Meadow Brook addi- tion. And later that day was when they turned this detour into an obstacle course with the huge boulders at the cor- ners. It has stopped the semis from getting hung up in yards and most of us have learned to adjust our driving to a little bit more courteous driving and giving one anoth- er more room and time to ne- gotiate the corners. We saw a semi start to travel up White River avenue and when he saw the city's new sign turn around and not attempt go- ing on. As an advocate for the truckers I would like to ask if their detour information is available soon enough and far enough away so they could adjust their routes. I know in Monroe city there are road closed signs up but it doesn't seem clear about semis. This might be worth looking into to keep down so much confusion for a driver unfamiliar with our roads not being able to accommodate their rigs. A couple of days we had the opportunity to work on the stuff in our upstairs bed- room. We could almost see some progress until we dis- covered a tote which needed sorting. We have made our- selves another mess to clean up. I must say what we have gotten done looks lots better. It is amazing how much stuff you can accumulate over the years and its all good stuff so it might come back in style. We found two totes full of t-shirts and I al- ready have enough I could wear a different one each day for at least two months. Maybe one of these days we might even see the floor up there in that room. The volunteers worked two days taking down and storing the Christmas in the Park decorations. It was do- ne a little quicker than last year but each year we learn a new secret or two which helps to make things more efficient. This year a pair of saw horses were used to keep a couple of our harder ones to disassemble off the ground and give better access to the hardware. We had a long range plan- ning meeting for our youth camp Saturday morning and then on to Vincennes to get another breaker. The one we ordered was not the correct one. Now that have what we think is the right parts my friend and I will try again to get our heater installed. This being Saturday night I am preparing a message and a song for church to- morrow morning at Mount Tabor. If God doesn't change my course of thinking I'll try again to speak about our judging of one another. God didn't prepare you to be a judge He has prepared all of us to be friends first and to set good examples in front of one another. Some people judge others to make them- selves feel more deserving while others judge because they feel like they are above others. The reason isn't as important as the fact that God said do not judge one another. Well stay safe out there and be the blessing to others that God has sent your way. MINUTES RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued from page 1 POINTS Continued from page 1 are preparing to follow. Freedom of speech has been the cornerstone of a citizen's right. Not any lon- ger. Say the wrong thing at work or post the wrong opin- ion on social media and you could lose your job. Employ- ment termination for espous- ing the wrong opinion in pub- lic is now commonplace. Social media is so preva- lent in many people's lives that the threat of being banned by Facebook, Twit- ter, YouTube, and other so- cial platforms sends them into a panic. Social media has become an arm of the government to censor any- one who does not follow the proscribed narrative. Twitter has taken the unprecedent- ed action to ban permanent- ly members of Congress who do not espouse the accepted narrative. There are scores of inter- nationally known experts in the fields of immunology and infectious diseases summar- ily removed from Facebook and YouTube without cause or warning because they dare to question the COVID narrative. Facebook instituted so called "fact checkers" to re- view posts that flow against the COVID, BLM, CRT, Cli- mate Change, and other pro- moted narratives. They cen- sor most posts that do not parrot their corporate view- point. Sometimes they gray out the offending post and add a comment such as this post does not meet commu- nity standards or is inaccu- rate. Facebook will some- times suspend an account for reportedly spreading misin- formation. Ironically, Facebook, in re- sponse to a lawsuit, has ad- mitted in court documents that their "fact checks" are in fact "opinions" and should not be considered facts. So much for truth. It is against the law for cer- tain American governmen- tal agencies to spy on its citi- zens. It spies anyway, with no repercussions. Some of these agencies record every email and cell conversation in real time. Put the wrong sentence in an email or say the wrong thing on your cell phone and you could get a visit from a government agent. Congress has the Con- stitutional responsibility to watch over this republic and ensure no branch of govern- ment, especially the execu- tive branch, tramples on the rights of the citizenry. The courts also are watchdogs to guard our Constitutional rights. Both branches are ee- rily silent. Sometimes, they are complicit. Only a hand- ful of State governors have the courage and conviction to stand up to governmental overreach and tyranny. Governmental officials say the sooner everyone gets vac- cinated, the sooner we can get back to normal. What we are witnessing is the new nor- mal. COVID will eventually fade away, but another crisis will take its place and anoth- er after it until the end. Ben- jamin Franklin said, "Our new Constitution is now es- tablished, everything seems to promise it will be durable; but, in this world, nothing is certain except death and tax- es." It would appear its dura- bility has seen better days. Taxes and death are still cer- tain. The only Christian re- course I know is to pray. Je- sus said to pray. Paul said to pray that we could be de- livered from unreasonable and evil men because not everyone has faith. Jesus said there are many wolves in sheep's clothing living among the sheep. There are many elected officials who claim to be Christian. Jesus said you will know them by the fruit they bear. Become a good fruit inspector. The year 2022 will be tu- multuous. For the believer who looks for Jesus' soon re- turn, I have good news. As you see these things, "be- gin to take place, straight- en up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." It may be difficult to pray for such large spheres as are sometimes mentioned. Where one subject appears of more special interest or more urgent than another, spend some time day after day to pray about that. If you really give time to in- tercession and the spirit of be- lieving intercession is cultivat- ed, the object is accomplished. While the heart must be en- larged at times to take in all, the more pointed and definite our prayer can be, the better. It tells us to pray for sending mission- aries, for those in the minis- try of the gospel, for believ- ers who have fallen into sin, for those in our own circle of friends. The church is now much larger than when the New Tes- tament was written. The num- ber of ministries and workers is much greater. The needs of the church and the world are so much better known that we
