Perinatal Loss Support – Expectant parents who sud- denly lose their child often experience a wide range of emo- tions and grief. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Cen- ter offers support to assist those who have experienced the loss of a child (conception to one month of age) through the grieving process, and provide an atmosphere of confiden- tiality and comfort. Grief Support Series-The death of a loved one, a child leaving home, overwhelming changes in one's personal life – each can cause profound grief and suffering. To offer reas- surance and comfort, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has developed a free support program called "Grief Support Series." In this program, participants will learn that grief is nor - mal, examine the various emotions of grief, be encouraged to face the pain, and find ways to make a healthy emotional withdrawal from the loss. Conducting the sessions will be Theresa O'Bryan, Hospital Chaplain, and Tom Holsworth, a clinical psychologist who has served as a co-facilitator of this program since its inception in 1991. Call for the next five-week program. Programs will be at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Centers Chapel. This program is free and space is limited. Stendal Community Create and Craft Night-The first Tuesday of each month, anytime between 6 -9 p.m. at St. Pe- ters Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission-Decem- ber 28 meeting of the Executive Board has been cancelled. Advance notice will be sent for the next scheduled meeting. Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Caregiver Sup- port Group– Memorial Hospital's Caring Hands Senior Services sponsors an Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Caregiver Support Group. Meeting dates have changed to the first Tuesday of every month. The next meeting is Tues- day, January 4, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Medical Arts Conference Center, located in the lower level of the Medical Arts Building at 721 W. 13th St. in Jasper. This support group allows caregivers to come together to share knowledge and experiences in caring for loved ones who are affected by these illnesses. SANDR A (GULLEY) GENDREN Sandra (Gulley) Gendren, 57, of Francisco, went to her heavenly home on December 10, 2021, at Deaconess Gate- way Hospital, after a long bat- tle with COVID-19. She was born on October 21, 1964, in Princeton, to Jack Gulley and Gail Ash. She worked for her father for many years, and later, was a homemaker and caregiver for her grandmother and her mother. She was kindhearted and would help anyone if she could. She enjoyed watch- ing her great-nephews every chance she could. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her son, Jesse Ray Gendren, who she loved with all her heart and soul; her brother, Danny (Ti- na) Stone; her nieces and nephews, Amy McClellan, Ja- mie Gentry, Kimberly Dages, John Gulley, Tyler Gross and Sarah Sherwood; two step- children, Julisa Gendren and Donald Gendren; three step- brothers, Jerry ( Jonalyn) Ash, of Boonville, Kerry (Shannon) Ash, of Heilman, and Barry Ash, of Hatfield; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Gulley; mother, Gail Ash; and broth- er, John Gulley. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Decem- ber 15, 2021, at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Matt Mullen officiating. Buri- al will follow at Williams Cem- etery in Pike County. Private family visitation will be at 10 a.m., with public vis- itation from 11 a.m. until ser- vice time on Wednesday at the chapel. Friends and family may send messages of comfort to www.lambbasham.com. CAROL (ALPINE) FICKEL Carol (Alpine) Fickel, 92, of Oakland City, passed away De- cember 5, 2021. She was born on Dec. 25, 1928, in Evansville, to Russell and Marie Alpine. She had a passion for music and attended the Butler Uni- versity Jordan Conservato- ry of Music while staying in the upstairs quarters of the Benjamin Harrison home in Indianapolis. She taught pia- no and vocal lessons for ma- ny years, and had an operat- ic voice, having sung in many cantatas at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and First General Baptist Church in Oakland City. She devot- ed her life to her only daugh- ter, Lisa, and caring for her parents. Her name was given in celebration to her by her parents with a birthdate on Christmas Day. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Fickel; son- in-law, Glenn Leitzell; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Marie Alpine; and a brother, Harvey Alpine. No services will take place at this time. GORDON R AY WELLS Gordon Ray Wells, 79, of Oakland City, entered rest on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at his home. He was born on Oct. 14, 1942, in Gibson County, to Bill and LaVerne ( VanMeter) Wells. He was a lifelong member of Clark's Chapel Church. He was a retired farm implement salesman, as well as a Vietnam veteran serving in the Army. He was a lifetime member of the Somerville American Legion Post and DAV, also a member of Lynnville Masonic Lodge #396, and Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville. He loved taking golf cart rides with his dog. He will missed by numer- ous friends. He is survived by his daugh- ter, Sally (Fred) Smith, of Whiteland; five grandchil- dren; five great-grandchil- dren; and a brother, Marlin ( June) Wells, of Somerville. He was welcomed into heaven by his parents; infant daughter, Tamara; infant sis- ter, Sherlyn; and great-grand- children, Kain, Lucus and Hope. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at Clark's Chapel Church, with Rev. Jeffrey Bryant officiat- ing. Burial will follow in Prov- idence Cemetery. He was born in St. Croix on December 30, 1940, son of John D. and Lillian E. (Keil- man) Saalman. He was a 1959 graduate of Oil Township High School. He had worked for Tell City Chair for over 34 years. He was self-employed with "Peel To Save" Fundraising for 10 years and had also worked se- curity at French Lick Hotel at the Dome. He had been a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ and had been attending Branchville United Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing golf, eu- chre and watching I.U. basket- ball, St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers. He always looked forward to spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his chil- dren, Beth Saalman, of Winslow, and Dwaine Ray (Denise) Saalman, of Fris- co, Texas; and one grandson, Jackson Ray Saalman. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dolores Kel- lams and Dorothy Lynch; and a brother, Arlin "Bud" Saal- man. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. CST on Friday, Decem- ber 10, 2021, at Huber Funer- al Home, Tell Chapel, with Pastor Josh Harris officiat- ing. Burial followed in Walker Cemetery in Branchville. She worked at Uniroy- al and Nasco Industries in Washington before her retire- ment. A fter retirement, she worked at the Snack Shack in Washington. She was a beloved moth- er, great-grandmother, great- great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, wife and friend during her 89 years of life. She had an unwavering devo- tion to her family; a stubborn, strong-willed and independent personality; and a love for gar- dening, cooking, sewing and raising of chickens. She is survived by her three children, Donna F. Gaines, of Washington, Kevin ( Jenni- fer) Kamplain, of Washing- ton, Paul (Kim) Kamplain, of Flat Rock, Ill.; six grand- children; 16 great-grandchil- dren; one great-great-grand- daughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her par- ents; her son-in-law, Mike Gaines; daughter-in-law, Jan- et Kamplain; grandson, David Kamplain; and all eight of her siblings. A funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Goodwin Sievers Fu- neral Home in Washington, with Pastor Brent Cramer of- ficiating. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Risley, 65, of Winslow, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, in Evans- ville. She was born to Billy Joe and Clarice (Masters) Wis- caver on March 15, 1956, in Jasper. She was a member of the Winslow High School Class of 1974. She loved animals and music. She put everything she had into raising her two sons and was always willing to help others. She loved nature and never missed a chance to at- tend a concert or go hiking, even up until her death. She grew up riding horses and competing in barrel races. She was a country girl who climbed the outside of water towers and whatever the guys could do, she could do better. She loved spending as much as she could with her boys and never left the house without her dogs. She carried a good energy about her and a smile wherever she went. She was a selfless woman who made a good impression on everyone she met. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her two sons, Adam (Leanna) Risley and Jesse Risley; three grand- children; great-grandchil- dren; sisters, Michelle and Sonya; mother, Clarice (Mas- ters) Wiscaver; and brother, Danny Wiscaver. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Wiscav- er; and brother, Bryan Wiscav- er. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
