The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, December 15, 2021 D-3 put ornaments on the tree and my wife let him do it as he pleased and his part of it looks good as well. Still have plenty of things in the shop which needs re- paired, but it has been cool enough it is uncomfortable to stay out long enough to get anything done without getting extra clothes to lay- er with. It just doesn't seem that important so I have bored myself to pieces stay- ing in. Next week I must get something done or someone will have to drive a stake be- side me to make sure I'm moving or not. This is okay for a retired man but it can easily become habit forming. We had our garage door opener replaced and right now the old one is in the shop floor in the way. Hope- fully it will lift my son's ga- rage door because his garage door is very heavy. It might be too much for the old open- er. We have been fixing the old place up here and there and if it is like everything else I've ever tried to make better we'll sell it before we get to enjoy it. I'm always do- ing that with automobiles. I had a friend ask me if I was always ill and I explained to her about all the different doctors I have. This friend is like me. We both would rather have 80 degree days with lots of sunshine. We would take those conditions and couple these days with some exercise and life would be great. Oh, but I wish it was as easy as it sounds and if we take care of ourselves and do what our doctors tell us we might have an easier life. Last week I was going to tell you about attending Cup Creek General Baptist's Christmas play but best laid plans sometimes take a rough turn because of un- foreseen snags. The play was this past Saturday night and you missed a tremendous performance by lots of talent- ed people. This year Justin and Jacob of "When in Rome" band played, while I played and sang Christmas music, as folks were being seated. I think we were dubbed the old man and the boys. It doesn't matter what we were called, we all had fun doing it. Last Sunday I brought the morning message for Bro. Rich and with the Lord's help we talked about the truth and having patience with those who have differing ways than ourselves. The truth we should all learn and practice is the gospel message. Jesus was God's only Son and He gave Him unto us as a sacri- fice for our sins. Another truth is Jesus gave His beautiful life for our sins and we should em- phasis the word GAVE in this truth. Jesus is the only way to the Father and this is yet another truth. Seek His for- giveness and accept that He has forgiven you and then let your life be molded into what God needs of you. The changes God will make in your life will amaze you. Well, It is time to close this article but I pray you never give up and that you face this old world with a determina- tion that you and God can do all things through our Savior Jesus. Be a blessing and be blessed. Pentecostal Nazarene Nazarene Methodist PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the MAE The best way to spread Christmas Cheer is bark- ing loud for all to hear. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a playful young gal named Mae, who is pos- ing in her Christmas at- tire in hopes she will be adopted for the holidays. She is a spunky black lab mix with soft, short black fur and white accents on her chest and paws. Her ears bend forward to give her an endearing look. She has only been at PAWS a short time, but has already warmed the hearts of vol- unteers and visitors. She is approximately eight months old and can be ad- opted by calling 812-354- 9894. So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the King- dom of God, and His righteous- ness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that passes all understanding—He is in con- trol. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. "While many of us both give and receive gifts during the Christmas season, God gave us a gift we will never be able to repay. In exchange for our sins and shame, God offered us eternal salvation by send- ing His son, Jesus Christ, to earth as our Savior. All we can do in return is accept this re- markable gift and pursue a relationship with the greatest gift-giver of all"—Billy Gra- ham. Grandma's Christmas Strategy One Christmas, a mother decided she was no longer go- ing to remind her kids to send thank you notes. Consequent- ly, the kids' grandmother nev- er received any thanks for the Christmas checks she sent to the kids. The very next Christmas, all the kids stopped by in person to thank their grand- mother for their checks. When asked by a friend what caused this change in behav- ior, the grandmother replied, "Simple. This year I didn't sign the checks." Merry Christmas. We invite all of you to come and worship with us.
