Eighth grade boys suffer defeat to Holy Trinity By Matthew Haycraft The Pike Central Charger eighth grade boys' basketball team competed against Holy Trinity on Tuesday, December 7, losing by a score of 35 -17. A fter being out for COVID quarantine, the Chargers re- turned to the hardwood for the second time. Coming out with some determination into the first period of the game, they left the score at 12-7. They still had the chance to come back and take the win, but seemed to lose their steam by the end of the third peri- od. Then in the fourth period of the game, they were only able to score one point, a free throw, on Holy Trinity. The Chargers seemed to not be on their game for this match- up; however, Coach JJ Howald commented that Holy Trinity just got away from them in the second half, and that there are lots of things that the team will learn and get better from. The Chargers' lead scorer for the game was Lane Fred- erick, totaling seven points. Following him was Kylon Bottoms with four points, and Cameron Roy, JJ Belmore and Bannon Mills all with two points each.
