I-69 car fire Fire destroyed a car Tuesday morning on I-69, near the 41-mile marker. Indiana Conservation Officer Duane Englert said the car had mechanical problems due to a previous crash that probably caused the fire. Englert said Kurtas Cowans, of Indianapolis, had driven the car from Indianapolis to Evansville with two friends on Monday and they were driving north back to In- dianapolis Tuesday morning. Cowans told Englert he started having problems with the car and pulled over as it started smoking. Englert said when he arrived, all three people were out of the car and it was smoking badly, then it burst into flames.
