The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, April 21, 2021 C-3 Continued in next column Continued in next column Pentecostal Nazarene Presbyterian Presbyterian Wesleyan MINUTES Continued from page 1 lievers "unto the fellowship of His Son", he referred to a spir- itual, heavenly fellowship, far more intimate and precious than any previously enjoyed by mortal man. This fellow- ship is to be enjoyed by faith, but it is faith based on fact, the fact that Christ indeed died our death and rose again from the dead that we might partake of His life and enjoy a position at God's right hand in Christ. This is why the Apos- tle Paul urges believers of this dispensation of grace to "seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God"(Col.3:1). Peter and John both came to know much of this fellow- ship through Paul, who was sent to Jerusalem "by rev- elation" to make known to the leaders there "that gos- pel which i preach among the gentiles" (See Galatians 2:2-9; II Peter 3:15 -18). This is why John writes in I John 1:3,4: "Truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son, Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full". Methodist Methodist PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the BELLA A Dog's Promise I promise to be true to you in good times and bad, in health and sickness, in wealth and poverty, all the days of my life. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a courageous young gal named Bella, who is as lovable as she is full of spunk and determina- tion. She has some issues with her front legs, which we feel may have been caused by a genetic prob- lem. She has adapted very well and her handicap does not seem to slow her down much. She is a pit bull ter- rier, with fawn colored fur, pretty green eyes, is eager to please, affectionate, a true people dog and is ap- proximately two years old. To inquire about Bella, call 812-354-9894. out and keep blade from walk- ing off. I have put new tires on the wheels but there are three leveling adjustments located on the tightening adjuster which helps align the blade and they don't seem to be do- ing their purpose. I've never been the sharpest tool in the shop when it comes to diag- nosing problems, but once I see how to do something I usually remember what I learned. If you have any in- sight to something I may have overlooked please advise me. My son broke the deck belt on his lawn mower last week. I picked up a belt for him and put his mower in the shop hop- ing he would be able to help me taking deck off and rein- stalling it. But he was sick from his first vaccination so Dad had to tackle the job alone. I got the job done with some effort after trying about two dozen tries at routing the belt because the diagram had been worn off which shows you how to put the belt on. My wife and I did a chore we have to do about every couple of months. We put stuff away in our garage when we had been in a rush to get some- thing done. We can park our cars without having to squeeze up into a ball to get out of the parked car. Doing this chore takes about two hours and it will last about two weeks(ha ha). I would like to see everyone who brings kids to school at noon for pre-k class to wait until the children are lined up at the gate by their teach- ers before taking their turn to pull away. Just because chil- dren are not predictable and it would be easy for them to dart back in front of any of us. If I hit any of those kids I would never get over it. It only amounts to about two or three minutes at the most to wait until the teachers have things under control. This isn't said in a condescending way but in such a way as to make us aware of a potential danger. Our Sunday school lesson was once again about being many members becoming a whole body. It was again em- phasized that we are all very important to the body. Our scripture lesson concerned us being at our best and to be ready to help others find the peace of Jesus in their hearts. I mentioned to one of my friends at church that I was a WIP( Work In Progress) and may always be. I hope and pray God will always be there guiding me and all my friends. To go out into the world and be a blessing is our reasonable service. Another thought just oc- curred to me, we were fortu- nate enough to hear the swing choir in the Pike Central gym. Their choir director seems to be a great leader and was able to share her successes with others. Vance Hays and many of his former students joined with the choir to bring a su- perb medley of songs and his talent still shines on the key board. Like I said it was truly a blessing being able to listen to all the choir. Thanks for the good entertainment and keep up the good work. "He said to them, 'This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.' Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, "This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgive- ness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, begin- ning at Jerusalem. You are wit- nesses of these things" (Luke 24: 44-48). God Bless. Michael (Mike) Punke, Pas- tor PETERSBURG FREE METHODIST CHURCH 202 Walnut Street As the number of COVID cas- es decreases, people are start- ing to return to many of the ac- tivities they have been missing. We are returning to many of our regular activities. We cur- rently meet in person for wor- ship service at 10 :30 a.m. on Sunday. The messages are al- so live on Facebook, or you can watch the message later. With the weather getting warmer, we will start transmitting via an FM station, if you prefer to stay in your car and listen in the church parking lot. We will let people know when we start broadcasting and what channel to tune into. Sunday school for all ages re- opens at 9:30 a.m. Location of the classes has changed. We will help you get to the proper classroom. We have also started a new Sunday School class called "The Journey." Jodi Correll is teach- ing. This is not an age-based class. It is a discipleship class designed to help people know Scripture better, and become more like Jesus. It is a great class for young adults, new be- lievers and people who just want to be refreshed and grow, even if they have been following Je- sus for years. Youth Group meets at 5 p.m. on Sunday. It is our goal for our youth group to be service ori- ented. The teens will do a work project at someone's house or other ministry, and have a brief devotional. It is important that we have your contact information and a way to contact each teen, because we may meet at the church, or at the place we will be serving. Families are welcome take part in the service project, but the parents are responsible for their children. The nursery will remain closed for now. We don't believe it is a good idea to allow children of different families to play together at this time. If your child needs to be tak- en out of the service, the nurs- ery can always be used as a place to change your child, or as a cry room. It is important that everyone wears their masks until they reach their seat. We also ask that people stay with the group they came with and not shake hands. We use every other pew, and ask that you stay socially dis- tanced from those in your pew who you did not come with. We make every effort to ster- ilize our facility between ser- vices. There is a basket as you en- ter the sanctuary for tithes and offerings. You may also give online through petersburgfmc. org. There is a link to our website on our Facebook page also, and we often put announcements and information on both pages. Peace and joy in the Lord. Mother with a mission Catherine Booth, wife of Salvation Army founder Wil- liam Booth, was said to have read the Bible through eight times before age 12. In 1855, she married William, a Meth- odist minister, keeping the wedding simple so more mon- ey could go toward ministry. Breaking with tradition, Catherine became active in the church, speaking in meet- ings and giving public tes- timony. While raising eight children, she raised funds for her work, which included helping alcoholics get their lives on track. Upon her death, this "Moth- er of the Salvation Army" re- ceived high praise from her husband. "To me she has been made of God, never-fail- ing sympathy, reliable wis- dom and unvarnished truth," said William Booth. "That is why I chose this way." When I say..."I am a Chris- tian," I don't speak of this with pride, I'm confessing that I stumble, and need someone to be my guide. When I say..."I am a Chris- tian," I'm not trying to be strong, I'm professing that I'm weak, and pray for strength to carry on. When I say..."I am a Chris- tian," I'm not bragging of suc- cess, I'm admitting that I've failed, and cannot ever pay the debt. When I say..."I am a Chris- tian," I'm not claiming to be perfect, my flaws are way too visible, but God believes I'm worth it. When I say..."I am a Chris- tian," I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heart- aches, which is why I seek His Name. When I say..."I am a Chris- tian," I do not wish to judge. I have no authority, I only know I'm loved."
