The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, April 21, 2021 B-5 SHOUT OUT Continued from page 1 Pike Central nips North Knox 6-5 Lady Charger softball head coach Stephanie Dawson re- ported the Pike Central Char- gers varsity snagged a late lead and defeated North Knox 6 -5 on Thursday. The game was tied at five, with Pike Central batting in the top of the seventh when Zia Staf- ford slapped a single into left field off Lady Warrior senior Phoebe Worstell. The North Knox pitcher threw two wild pitches, allowing Stafford to take second and then third. The winning RBI came from the bat of senior Lady Char- ger Mallory Hickey. She hit a deep fly ball to centerfield for Stafford to tag up and score the winning run. Lexi Onyett laid down a few crucial bunts for the Chargers to get base runners moving throughout the game. She ex- ecuted and did her job at the plate for the team, allowing Brailey Mills to squeeze her way across home twice early in the game. Kenzie Powell was on the rubber for Pike Central, strik- ing out six and issuing no walks. Powell threw 93 pitch- es, had one hit, and scored one run and drew a walk. The team played error-free ball, pounding out 10 hits, includ- ing a pair of doubles courte- sy of Brailey Mills. Onyett col- lected three RBIs on one hit and a walk and Hickey gar- nered two RBIs on two hits. Madelyn Fiscus had two hits, as did Mills and Hickey, and Stafford and Mills scored twice for the Lady Chargers. Worstell was in the circle for North Knox, allowing six runs over seven innings, strik- ing out 11 and walking Char- gers Kenzie Powell and Hallie Bailey. Haylee Goff had three hits for the Lady Warriors, and Reagan Jones, Maryssa Lamb and Wostell each had two. Schipp led her team at the plate going two for two, and Kyla Peter and Sarah Day each had one hit. Peter and Schipp also accounted for all the stolen bases in the game. The Chargers are now 7-3 on the season and 1-1 in con- ference play. They sport a 4- 1 home record and 2-2 on the road plus one. Tuesday was a clash with Princeton at their place, followed by Wood Me- morial on Thursday, Boonville on Monday and then Washing- ton on Wednesday.
