B-4 Wednesday, April 21, 2021 The Press-Dispatch Relays and Wiseman take first in middle school tri-meet The eighth grade boys' 400 relay and the girls' 3200 me- ter relay claimed first place finishes in the tri-meet with Southridge and North Posey on Friday. Xavery Wiseman ran a 5:58 to first place in the 1600 run and got second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 56.12. Wiseman, Kate- lyn Neal, Emma Brock and Sadie Willis took a second in the 1600 meter relay, clocking 4:59.66. Sadie Willis added a second in the 200 meter dash (1:11,78) and Jaelee Loveless captured a second in the 200 meter dash in 32.32. Emma Brock, Jessa Ridao, Kylie Meyer and Wiseman clocked 12.20 for the win in the 3200 meter relay. Abby Boyd was third in the 100 with a time of 15.41 and Kyle Meyer placed third in the 1600 (6:47). The seventh grade 400 relay took third (1:08.60) with Ka- liea Hartke, Macy Hill, Alex- is Boyd and Daegan Knepp do- ing the sprinting. Jaelee Lovelss cleared 4'2" for fourth in the high jump and Alexis Boyd made a toss of 45'6.5" for fourth in the dis- cus. Daegan Knepp placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 22.87. Cole Besing, Quintin Mc- Cormick, Grant Boyd and Ethan Mann won the eighth grade 400 meter relay in 54.12. Ethan Mann took a sec- ond in the 100 dash with a time of 13.28 and was third in the 200 (27.22). Quintin McCormick took second in the high jump clear- ing 4'7" and Mann was fourth (4'7"). Grant Boyd took fourth in the long jump, taping 14'3". McCormick also took a third in the 110 hurdles (21.97). Carson Wiscaver was third in the 300 hurdles, with McCor- mick fourth (1:00.93). Wis- caver, Aidan Collins, Deacon Jenkins and Ian Shoultz ran a 5:04.69 to third place in the 1600 meter relay. Chargers baseball blanked by North Posey Thursday By Mike Sandifar North Posey High School took advantage of a youthful Pike Central High School on the diamond Thursday to take a 12-0 Pocket Athletic Confer- ence (PAC) baseball encoun- ter in five innings to remain unbeaten in conference action. The host Vikings jumped out to a quick 6 -0 advantage after one inning, then anoth- er two runs in the bottom of the second frame and plated three more runs in the bot- tom of the third, before push- ing one run home in the bot- tom of the fourth. Leading 12-0 after the Char- gers batted in their half of the fifth inning, the Vikings did not go to the plate in the bot- tom of the fifth inning, due to the 10 -run rule. "I think time will show that North Posey just might be the best team in the PAC," said Charger Coach Jacob West- ern after the game, "They are skilled at every position, and they have outstanding pitch- ing—and as a team, they can really hit the baseball." The Vikings hammered out 10 hits in their four at bats, with senior Jaydyn Wehmer, freshman Easton Luigs, and sophomore Adyn Collins all getting two hits on the day. The Chargers came up with three hits in the contest, one each by junior Alex Clark, sophomore Isaac Burdett, sophomore Peyton Howald, and sophomore Jagar Dent. Freshman Jarod Farrar got credit for the win for the hosts. Farrar allowed just two hits, struck out four Chargers and did not walk a batter in his five innings. The Vikings did not make a fielding error behind the first-year performer. The victory gave North Posey a 4-4 overall record, including a perfect 3-0 PAC mark, while the loss left Pike Central at 0 -6 on the 2021 dia- mond campaign, including 0 - 3 in league play. Red Angels and The Tropics win two each at Otwell Saturday and Sunday ac- tion at the Otwell Commu- nity Center hosted Otwell Men's Basketball League featured seven games, in- cluding two wins each by the Red Angels and The Tropics, with The Tropics posting a 79 -59 win over the Red Angels. Games on Saturday in- cluded the Red Angels over the Busch Bods 79 - 75. Scott Mills (4) led the Angels with 54 points and a dozen rebounds. Hagan Patton (3) scored 35 points for the Bods and had eight rebounds. RuNNingRage beat Har- lem Money 57-38, with Tan- ner Wildridge (0) scor- ing 19 points and four re- bounds. Blake Ziegler(4) had 11 points and three re- bounds for Harlem Money. The Tropics nabbed Hyp- notoads 79 -59, with Ricky Alvey (5) adding 30 points and 23 rebounds. Jaden Hayes (50) was good for 43 points and seven rebounds for the Hypnotoads. On Sunday, Team Won bettered the Average Joes 68 -50, with Chantz Parson (8) chipping in 22 points. Trey Wornica (5) had 15 for the Average Joes. The Trop- ics beat the Red Angels 79 - 59, with Alvey (5) hitting 26 points and grabbing 11 re- bounds. Clay VanMeter (3) had 27 points and four re- bounds for the Red Angels. The Red Angels edged the Hypnotoads 77-70, with Clay VanMeter netting 39 points and six rebounds. Hayden Cloe (3) had 22 points and five rebounds for the Hypnotoads. The Longshots scored a 62- 48 win over The Tropics, with Trent Barett contrib- uting 20 points and four re- bounds. The Tropics were led by Rickey Alvey (5) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Benchwarmers did in the Harlem Money 56 - 28, with Timothy Stone add- ing 15 points and three re- bounds. Austin Jones had 11 points and two rebounds for the Harlem Money. RuN- NingRage scored a 46 -25 win over the Benchwarm- ers, with Tanner Wildridge (0) adding 15 points and 11 rebounds. Brandon Schae- fer (1) scored 15 points and five rebounds for the Benchwarmers. Harlem Money bettered Busch Bods 50 -43, and Dustin Hunt (2) accounted for six rebounds and 15 points. Ha- gan Patton (3) scored 21 points and three rebounds for the Busch Bods. Abby Boyd sprinted to the finish of the 100 meter dash for Pike Central at North Posey.
