Poplar Street, Petersburg About 3,000 years ago David wrote in Psalm 16:11: "…In Thy presence is fulness of joy…." He was right, for there is no greater joy than personal fellowship with God. Yet David could not know the fulness of joy now spoken of in Paul's epistles, for he did not know Christ, who later came into the world as God, manifest- ed in the flesh, to die for our sins. He did not know that Christ would make full satisfaction for sin and be raised from the dead to confirm our justification. Nor did David know that be- lievers would be given Christ's resurrection life, and a position, and "all spiritual blessings in the Heavenlies in Christ" (Eph.2:4-6; 1:3). When Paul wrote that God has called be- In America about 85 percent of the people, to some extent, believe in the Christian faith. About three percent are Jewish and one percent are Muslims. They all have some concept of Heaven. To understand heaven, and sort out the false from the truth, one must turn to the Bible. In John:14, Jesus talks about Heaven. He tells His followers He will go and prepare a place for them and someday come for them. Christ makes it plain and simple that He is the way to Heaven. Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life." To get to this beautiful place we must believe in Jesus Christ and follow Him. There are about 4,300 religions in our world. These include many beliefs and they vary so much they all can't be right. There are about 2.1 billion Christians in our world. The Muslims claim 1.2 billion followers and there are about 14 million Jews and 350 million Buddhists. The Muslims heaven will be a lavish place where they will have servants and a source of joy will be sex with each martyr having 72 vir- gins. The Christian believes Heaven will be a place of unending peace, joy, tranquility, love and wor- ship of God. All mourn- ing will be over and there will be no tears. They will forever be togeth- er with their family and friends. It will be a city prepared by God for people who have accept- ed His Son, Jesus Christ, as their Savior. God will be the light of the city and there will be no sun. There will be no need for earthly pleas- ures there. Joy will come from being one with God roaming the vast city and universe in an- other dimension. Those who have been born again have an inner peace now that some day heaven will be their eternal home. Stam Once again another week has passed and most retirees will tell you there are not many weeks which are alike. This week was no ex- ception as it was filled with doctor visits and doing things for our upcoming cruise-in at Cup Creek General Baptist church next Saturday. As a retiree there are times you need an extra hour or so just to keep up. My week started out with a fasting blood work at Petersburg Deaconess Lab. Getting older isn't for people who don't like visits to the doctor. I feel lots better now that my doc- tor has found the problems with my health, which I didn't even realize were going on. My body is finally doing its best to shed off the af- fects of the COVID as I'm breathing lots easier. A fter having had COVID and being vacci- nated I do feel somewhat more comfortable being in public, although I do still wear my mask. I do wish the people who don't seem to take this virus seriously would accept the fact something is taking place and I do have a chance to help keep it from completely tak- ing over our lives. Wednesday was our busiest day because I had three appointments with different doctors and phlebotomist. We also were able to go to Sam's and Aldi's to do a little shopping in be- tween appointments so the day wasn't all doc- tors. I did have to throw away a pint of blood but it has gotten to the point that afterwards I feel much better because the iron in your blood affects you in ways you never realized. If you don't have check-ups regular you should con- sider one soon. I have worked on a band saw in the shop for awhile and I can't get the upper wheel to level Upcoming Events 4 His Praise to perform at Gentle Shepherd Church of God, April 25 4 His Praise will present a Praise and Worship service at Gentle Shepherd Church of God, located at 8350 East 350 North ( just west of Oatsville on Oatsville/Wheel- ing Road) in Gibson County on Sunday, April 25 at 6 p.m. (CDT). Wheth- er you bought a homeless man a burger, donated to a foreign mission, or simply smiled at a stranger in the produce aisle, the more we tune into God, the more he will work in us. When we look to him for inspiration, he provides us with opportuni- ties, big and small, to express his love to others.
