Poplar Street, Petersburg Deadline: 5 p.m. on Monday PAUL GARY PRIDE Paul Gary Pride, 79, of Pe- tersburg, entered rest on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at his home, with his family by his side, after losing a brief illness with cancer. He was born January 18, 1941, in Cato, to Raymond and Mearl Padgett Pride. He was one of nine children. A fter graduating from Pe- tersburg High School, he joined the U.S. Army. On De- cember 24, 1963, he married Priscilla Sue Frandsen. They would have been married 57 years on December 24, 2020. He retired from Whirlpool in Evansville after 38 years. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his family and his church family. He was always very faithful to his church. For many years, he was a faithful member of The River of Life Church in Petersburg, which he also helped to build. He was the door greeter, and al- ways had a warm handshake and smile for everyone. He was a very pleasant and hap- py guy. He loved working on cars and could do most any- thing he set his mind to do. He made several pretty wood crafts, and anything around his home, he could always take care of. He loved IU Bas- ketball and NASCAR Racing. But most of all, he loved net fishing in the White River. He fished first with Roy Haycraft and later with his son, Darrin Pride. He loved his grandchil- dren and going to basketball and baseball games, and later soccer games with the young- est grandson, Gabe Caldwell. From hunting mushrooms to riding 4-wheelers, he just loved life. He was well-loved by all who knew him and never had any- thing bad to say of anyone. He was an all-around good guy and will be greatly missed by his family. He is at rest now and in his heavenly home with his children, Dana and Darrin, and other family that has gone on before. Besides his wife, Priscilla Sue Pride, he is survived by his son, Brian Pride, of Peters- burg; a daughter, Shannon ( Ja- son) Caldwell, of Winslow; by brothers, Steve (Mary Ann) Pride, of Petersburg, and Bill (Laura) Pride, of Iowa; a sis- ter, Karen (Ronald) Bennett, of Michigan; nine grandchil- dren, Heather Murray, Scott Pride, Jeremy Pride, Justin Pride, Hannah Pride, Tyler Pride, Tayler Pride, Keris- ten (Andy) Sciscoe and Gabe Caldwell; and 13 great-grand- children. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gerald Pride, Farrell Pride and Robert Pride; two sisters, Vera Leighty and Shirley Nich- olson; a daughter, Dana Pride; and a son, Darrin Pride. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at the River of Life Church, with Rev. Jim Gid - cumb officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Hills Ceme- tery in Petersburg. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Saturday at the church. Gov. Holcomb and CDC social distancing is still observed, with the max- imum of 25 people for atten- dance to all visitations and services. Love, Judy, Brandon, Angie and Families JERRY CALVIN OT T Jerry Calvin Ott, 94, of Fran- cisco, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2020. He was born in Francisco on November 23, 1926, to the late Ada (Peavler) and Oral How- ard Ott. He was a W WII veteran of the United States Army and was assigned to the 3186th Signal Service Battalion from 1945 -1947. He graduated from Francisco High School in 1946 while stationed in Tokyo, Ja- pan, his mother picked up his diploma. In 1974, he gradu- ated from DeVry Institute of Technology as Electronics Op- erator Technician and Com- puter Controls. He also held an Amateur Radio and Com- mercial Radio Television Op- erator's license. Over the course of his life, he worked as a press operator, owned and operated Francisco T V Sales and Service with his brother, was a technician for Kirsksville Telephone Compa- ny, and retired from Princeton Community High School as an electronics technician. He was a longtime member of the Francisco General Bap- tist Church, where he taught Sunday School, was a trustee, Sunday School superintendent and a member of the choir. As a servant of the Lord, he ex- hibited the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithful- ness, gentleness and self-con- trol. Because of his faithful walk with Christ, he has been an amazing example of God's love. He has left behind a true legacy of patience, love, re- spect, hard work and indepen- dence for all that knew him. He loved to spend time with family and would attend many family functions. His hobbies included tinkering with elec- tronics, working on his elec- tric car and fixing anything that anyone brought him. He enjoyed reading and had a strong commitment to contin- ued learning and teaching. He could often be found spending a sunny day out on the mow- er, it was one of his favorite chores. He is survived by his son, David (Harriet) Hardin; daughter-in-law, Sue Har- din; sister, Rosemary Krieg; six grandchildren, Stepha- nie (Dave) Harrison, Kimber- ly (Steve) Heldt, Amy (Matt) Deno, Dusty Hardin, Laura Hardin and John Hardin; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary L. (Gentry) Ott; son, Richard G. Hardin; six brothers, Howard ( Jr), Henry ( Jack), William Robert (B-Bob), David (Bird), Joseph ( Joe) and John Pat (Pat); sister, Elizabeth (Bet- ty) Wilson; and granddaugh- ter, Jill Anne Hardin. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at the Francisco General Bap- tist Church, with Rev. Kathryn Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Francisco Cemetery. A walk-through visitation will be from 10 a.m. until ser- vice time on Wednesday at the church. Due to new COVID-19 man- dates from Gov. Holcomb and CDC, social distancing is still observed, with the maximum of 25 people for attendance to all visitations and services. ROYALTY Robert W. Royalty, 85, of Winslow, passed away Tues- day, December 15, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He was born February 9, 1935, to Bennett and Eliza (Furgeson) Royalty. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a coal miner and was a member of the UMWA for over 40 years. He attend- ed the Muren Church of God. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doretta; son, Jer- ry (Callie) Royalty, of Peters- burg; daughters, Carolyn Freeland, of Fleetwood, Pa., Donna (Dennis) Oldham, of Newburgh, and Rhonda En- low, of Fort Branch; sisters Jean Williams, of Muskogee, Okla., Mary (Robert) Hume, of Winslow, Thelda (Darrell) Woolsey, of Bartow, Fla., and Wanda Russell, of Petersburg; grandchildren, Jody Meeks, Chad Freeland, Bennett Roy- alty, Amber Belanger, San- dy Royalty, Jedidiah Oldham, Krystina Schoening, Kelsey Rose and Lindsey Royalty; 11 great-grandchildren; and sev- eral nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 7-day-old great-grandson, Kaiden Lamar Meeks, in 2019.
