The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, December 23, 2020 C-3 VIEWPOINT Continued from page 1 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 MINUTES Continued from page 1 Methodist Pentecostal Nazarene Presbyterian Wesleyan page shot. Now, do I want a certain shot, well yes, the Moderna shot sounds a little safer and doesn't sound like it has as many possible side-effects, but as I said I certainly don't want to take a chance on hav- ing COVID again so I'll take what is available when I get my turn. I hope and pray these vaccines are the hope we need to beat this killer. Are you ready for Christ- mas because today we have five days left to do our shop- ping and baking of cookies and candy? My wife is a good cook. Her cookies are the greatest but I'm wondering when she will find the time this year to supply us with those delicious morsels of her oven. She can't count on me for much help because we are still waiting on my cook- ing and gift buying skills to show up. I don't want to say very much about the presidential election this week but I do pray for our country because we are a country which was founded on our faith in God so as the days pass by let us pray for a peaceful solution to all this turmoil. In times past medicine had blood-letting as one of their healing practices. I under- stand they still use leeches to help in gangrene control as one means to control healing. Well last week I had anoth- er blood draw to control the level of Ferritin in my blood. The higher levels of Ferritin work against the organs in our bodies by leaving depos- its of Ferritin in them. By re- moving a pint of blood they can lower my Ferritn level to a safer level. The procedure is similar to giving blood on- ly they can't use it because of the Ferritin in it. So Fer- ritin seems to be the word of today. Well I might not get to see or talk to you until after CHRISTmas so I'll just say it now Merry CHRISTmas to you all and remember it was Jesus who was the greatest gift ever given. We went to church with Cup Creek last Sunday and my wife said we all looked funny with our masks mov- ing as we sang CHRISTmas carols. Funny or not it was great to be in worship with them. There was music and a play to show us the CHRIST- mas story and it was a great performance. As always I ask you to be a blessing to all. the last days. The signs of the times and world events all point to His soon return. One needs to read chapters from the Bible like Matthew 24 to remind us Christ will return. As we celebrate Christmas with an understanding of its true meaning, it can be a time of joy, hope and inner peace. Christmas is about God's gift. The gift means redemp- tion and salvation. All who truly repent and believe in Je- sus Christ will have eternal life. All mankind is touched by God's love gift and invit- ed to believe in Him as Sav- ior. This is the true Christ- mas story. Make this Christ- mas special by worshiping the Savior and making Him the center of all your happy times at Christmas. my can keep you off balance in this area he can success- fully hinder your service for the Lord. "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanks- giving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which pass- eth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." — Phil. 4:6,7 Do you worry? I didn't think so, but there are some who struggle with this prob- lem. Paul says, "Be careful for nothing." In our mod- ern day language we would say, "Don't worry about any- thing." The Greek word be- hind the term "careful" here is merimnao, which means to pull in different directions, to distract. This is exactly what worry will do to you—it will tear you apart both emotion- ally and physically. It can be one of the leading causes of ulcers, which is something else to worry about! Worry always dwells on the future in regard to what may or may not happen. It mulls over every worst-case scenario imaginable until you are tied in knots. We might say it this way: the past belongs to the ages, the pres- ent belongs to us, but the fu- ture belongs to God. So many trials come into our lives and along with the busi- ness of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us.
