Expires Oct. 31, 2020 www.UebelhorGM.com Jasper • 1-800-937-8721 CHEVROLET CHARGER XC FAILS TO FIELD TEAMS AT PAC Jeremy Delobel, Ijaa Chambers, Dallas Reute- pohler and Shane Woodhull participated in Saturday's Pocket Athletic Conference championships, but their numbers weren't sufficient for a team result. Although Quinlan Teague finished fourth in the girls' varsity race, her team also lacked that fifth runner to qualify for team competition. Missing in the boys' lineup were Trent Zimmerman, Ethan Gorby, Lane Potts, Peyton Chanley and Noah Russell. Quinlan Teague, An- na Whitehead, Charlotte Dudenhoeffer and Laney Johnson comprised the Lady Charger girls' team and they too did not score as a team. In the boys' race, Jere- my Delobel ran to 21st in 18:15.37 and Ijaa Cham- bers ran his first race this year in 18:37.33, taking 25th place. Dallas Reutepohler placed 48th in 19:47.21 and Shane Woodhull was 58th in 20 :52.69. Forest Park's Spenser Wolf edged Raid- er Dylan Bland for first in 15:31.58 for first in the boys' race. Quinlan Teague finished less than 10 seconds out of second place, crossing the finish in 19:51.98 for fourth overall. Ana Whitehead placed 12th in 20 :45.68, Weisman sets middle school course record Repeats as PAC champ By James Capozella Xavery Weisman had men- tioned to family that a certain Princeton Lady Tiger runner who had beaten her to the line in a race earlier in the year was not going to do it again. True to what she said, the top finishing eighth grader exit- ed the Prides Creek 3K course in 10 :34.84, 24 seconds ahead of Princeton's Mallory Watt. Chargers soccer now 11-5 with win over Trojans Charger boys' soccer began the post-season Monday play- ing Southridge on the Fort Branch pitch and concluded their regular season with a 4- 1 win in Oakland City over the home-standing Wood Memori- al Trojans on Wednesday. The boys jumped out 2-1 at the end of the first half, and added two more goals and strong defense for the 4-1 win. Kendric Sorgius made five saves in goal, including anoth- er PK save like the one in the 5 - 0 road trip win over the South- ridge Raiders on Tuesday. Charger head coach Jacob Western said, "A 4-1 win to- night. Garrett Boyd had a big night with three assists. Nolan Nelson and Devin Carlisle al- so had assists on a couple re- ally nice team goals. Goals were scored by Chase Ridao, Joey Ridao, Devin Carlisle and Isaac Burdette." Quinlan Teague ran in first for the Lady Chargers, tak- ing fourth place overall in 19:51.98 at the PAC Champion- ships. She made the All-PAC team with her top ten finish. Deer hunters: Remember safety tips With the deer reduction zone season underway, youth deer season this weekend and the statewide archery season coming in on October 1, 2020, Indiana Conservation Officers are offering safety tips to help keep Hoosier deer hunters safe. The various deer hunting seasons run through Jan. 31, 2021. It is estimated that more than 300,000 people will par- ticipate in some form of deer hunting in Indiana during that span. Such a large num- ber makes safety more even more important. The most common injuries during deer seasons are ac- cidents involving tree stands and elevated platforms. Fol- low the safety tips listed be- low when hunting from an el- evated position: Before the hunt: • Read and understand the tree stand manufacturer's instructions. • Check tree stands and equipment for wear, fa- tigue, and cracks or loose nuts/bolts, paying par- ticularly close attention to parts made of material other than metal. • Practice at ground level. • Learn how to properly wear your full-body safety harness. • During the hunt: • Wear your full-body safe- ty harness. • Use a tree stand safety rope. • Make certain to at- tach your harness to the tree before leaving the ground, and that it re- mains attached to the tree until you return to the ground. Xavery Weisman had no one pushing her in the late going of her PAC championship run on Saturday. She won for the second year in a row, clocking a course record 10:34.84, while more than 23 seconds ahead of her competition.
