The drug abuse, violent crime, domestic violence, and the break-up of the family stems from a gradual moral decay in our society. Our politicians and money can- not correct this crisis. Since genuine morali- ty rests on religious conviction our only hope is to return to traditional religious teachings. For the past few decades America has been in moral regression. Our educational system and society in general has taught there are no absolutes. Our time-honored moral codes have been replaced with internet social me- dia, co-habitation, and acceptance of the homo- sexual lifestyle. Our children have grown up without standards of right and wrong. Today we are seeing the cost of this moral decline in our urban streets, in abortion clinics and in the spread of violence, anarchy and destruction in our streets. The so- called sexual revolution has marred and scarred our young people almost beyond repair. The high cost of free sex never ends. Today 72 percent of all black children are born illegitimate com- pared with 23 percent in 1960. Today free love has given America the highest teen pregnancy rate in the developed world. Sex trafficking is becoming a major problem among 12 to 15 -year-old girls. The crisis is real, and the answer is ageless. Only a return to God and traditional religious values will rescue this sick society. On Novem- ber 3 vote for Christian values. Greetings readers, I hope you are all doing well. Another prescription for my cough but finally I seem to be coughing less. In the last month I have taken so much medicine I feel like an ATM for pills. It could be worse because there are people getting the virus and feeling just as miserable as can be so I feel blessed to feel okay just noisy. I don't how many more shout-outs I'll have because I'm starting to forget from week to week who I have mentioned in this column. It is fun to remember my friends and work mates. Harold Lee is this week's shout-out and every- one knew him as Ug Lee. I have seen many square jawed pictures on many I Beams at the plant drawn by his friends. Harold was a good mechanic and good worker if you could keep him from tormenting someone because he loved to tease. Of course there were many of us taking turns at his teasing. I sure do hope and pray there will be many blessings coming to him and his family. We celebrated the life of Ron Drew this past Sunday. He had been a resident of Amber Man- or for lots of years. Ron was well known at Am- ber Manor and you couldn't go in without see- ing his smiling face. If Ron teased you he liked you and you had a friend because he just had a love for people. His celebration was a grave side service and I was fortunate enough to be able to do his service. There were several people there to pay their respects. His memory shall always bring a smile to your life as he was well liked. My sister is still doing okay even with the vi- rus and I sure pray she keeps on doing as good as she is doing. Amber Manor has been hit hard by this ter- rible sickness but they are doing the best they can do to cope with it. I thank all the prayer warriors who had prayer for the facility and all those who have been affected by the virus. When will people learn that God's care is what we need to counter this virus? Our world is in one big mess and it just could be because we think we have become smarter than God. The Bible is full of instances where God had to let people find out things the hard way that their ways were not pleasing to Him. Amber Manor folks sure don't need any- one's judgment or ridicule but they do need your prayers and kindness. With God's help this thing will be taken care of. While we are praying let's pray for our Pres- ident and his family as they face the covid. Our nation could suffer greatly at the hands of the countries that are just looking for an opportuni- ty of weakness they could use against us. Stay strong America and support the man who is in office for our nation's sake. On another note we see our trees becom- ing colorful and pretty, but it means Autumn is coming and then cold weather which I don't like at all. It seems as though I can cool off easi- er than I can warm up. Lately my thoughts have come to associate Fall as a final call to lots of things. I like Spring because there is new life to flowers and vegetable gardens. God could hold the storms but the gentle rains of April are always good as God waters His creation. Amazing how we become philosophers in our later years. Well this is another week of no services at Velpen General Baptist and I am getting antsy for things to calm down so we could again be in worship service to our Lord. Thank God we don't have to be in a building called a church to lead a Christian life. Your life will speak for you so be the person God needs you to be. It has been said before that we write our obitu- ary with the way we live our lives. Go out next week and love one another and be a blessing each time you see the opportunity. "Can anything ever sep- arate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? No, despite all these things, overwhelming victo- ry is ours through Christ, who loved us" (Romans 8:35,37, NLT). A life of victory isn't a life without disappointment or hard work. Jesus promised us trials and difficulties as we follow Him. He also promised us grace, strength, hope and victory. Don't think that good works, prayer or even faith will produce a life of ease. We have a promise of victory and that is the saving love of Je- sus Christ. We are remembering those suffering from COVID-19. It has hit our nursing facilities very hard. Be in prayer for BETHEL G.B.
