So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the King- dom of God, and His righteous- ness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that passes all understanding—He is in con- trol. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. We are not sure of what direction to head or what road we should travel, but there is One who can di- rect our path and keep us in the way we should go. Something that is hard for most of us to do is submit. Yet, the Word shows us over and over this ability is essential to our faith. The woman who ac- knowledged to the Lord that she was not of the house of Is- rael by saying, "even the lit- tle dogs get the crumbs that fall from the table." She could have reproached Him and said, you certainly don't act like a minister, but she sub- mitted to His station and to His calling. By doing so, she received her request. Maybe we just think we're being sub- missive. Just a thought. Ron Vickers, Pastor Elaine Young, Reporter, 812-749 -1122 (leave a mes- sage). vices at 7 p.m. Everything around us seems to be in turmoil. Churches shut down, Chris- tians slack in their commit- ment to church, confusion in the world. The enemy of our salvation is running ram- pant. There is only one place to run and that is to the cross where the finished work of Je- sus paid the price and we can find peace. Remember our country, the President, all in government in prayer and also the sick, af- flicted and the unsaved. George Bruce, Jr., Pastor MAIN STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 10th and Main Streets, Petersburg 812-354-6844 Sunday worship 10 :30 a.m. Come visit us, our doors are always open to you. So, what is heaven like? Scripture offers only a few in- triguing glimpses: Ezekiel's vision of four fiery creatures and the hem of God's gar- ment gleaming in rainbow light; Jesus' parable of the rich man and Lazarus, de- picting heaven within shout- ing distance of Hades; Jesus' mention of many rooms in his Father's house; Stephen seeing Jesus at God's right hand; John of Patmos' view of the new Jerusalem, de- scending from God. We can't know exactly what heaven looks like — or how we'll fill all our "free time." (Doubtless, worship around God's throne will be a big and joyous part). But we know there will be no hunger, thirst, tears, death or pain (see Revelation 7, 21 and 22). All peoples and lan- guages will be included, with healing for all nations. There will be a new episode of di- vine grace every day. Most importantly, Jesus will be there — the Lamb of God, our Shepherd, sheltering us with his presence. For now, that's all we need to know.
