Vernon Pike Central's girls' soc- cer team lost a tough game against the undefeated Mt. Vernon Wildcats last Thurs- day. "We lost 3-0, but actually played pretty well and had a lot of chances to score in both halves," said Charger Coach Chad Western. "They have a very strong offense, and we had to defend very hard against their best players," added Western The expanded Pocket Ath- letic Conference is strong this year, as both Mt. Vernon and Heritage Hills are undefeated in conference and overall for the year. Charger soccer falls to Lady Titans The Pike Central High School Lady Chargers' soccer team had chances to score, but couldn't stop a senior-lad- en Gibson Southern Lady Ti- tans team from scoring a 3-0 win last Thursday. Lady Char- ger head coach Chad Western commented, "They are very strong this year, with 15 se- niors and a great offense. "We tried to limit their chances to score. And we had a couple chances to score as well. Mallory Hunt played well in goal. Our defense played very well, as Jaylyn Cape- hart, Kelby Leighty, Keena and Kahle Young all played very well. We had a few small injuries in this match that hurt our ability to do what we want- ed also."
