Good Luck at Sectional Pike Central Boys' Tennis PC seventh claims two set win over Holy Trinity Pike Central Middle School seventh graders scored a two- set win over Holy Trinity last Thursday. The first set was a 25 -9 win, where the Heidi Woodford accounted for six straight aces, taking the team from 15 points to 20 points. Trinity responded for one vol- ley and then the Chargers ran to the 25 -9 first-set win. Holy Trinity made it a con- test by getting 25 -23, after a run by Lila Taylor and then shots by Woodford, Sydney Burdette and Alivia Gulledge. Trinity's Nora Breitweiser, Ela Rees and Halle Recker were the hitters in the late going for the visitors. Pike Central Middle School seventh grader Li- la Taylor played a big part in the 25-9 first set and than the 25-23 second set wins over Holy Trinity last Thursday. PCMS tennis falls to Braves 2-3 Two Pike Central Middle School singles players prevailed over Tecumseh, but num- ber one singles and both doubles teams lost. Parker Knust won 8 -0 in the num- ber two singles match and J.J. Bellmore notched an 8 -0 win in number three sin- gles. Eli Arnold fell in the number one sin- gles match by the score of 4-8. Nolan Bailey and Carter Blackwell lost at number one doubles 0 -8 and Adon Lemond and Jaden Bolin were beaten 2-8. In second round matches, Nate Carter scored a 6 -3 win and Eli Keeker won by the score of 4- 3. Kade Benner lost 0 -4 and Tyler Collins fell by 2-4. Llinklyn Knust and Eli Keek- er lost a doubles match 0 -6, Kody Carter and Jackson Brewster fell 4-6, and Eli Ar- nold and Parker Knust recorded a 6 -2 win. court. They played hard and never gave up. The team serving percentage was 95.8 percent, and we had 14 aces and 105 digs, plus 42 kills as a team." The varsity posted sets of 25 -22, 24-25, 25 -20 and 25 -22. Ashlyn Shoul- tz made 11 kills and 18 digs, Erika Vinnedge had 10 kills, one block, four aces, six digs and one assist, Karley Ka- vanaugh made 11 digs, 17 assists, two kills and two aces. Kenzie Powell made 13 assists, 10 digs and three aces, while Jaize Mills had 11 digs and Maddie Wil- liams made nine digs, two assists, sev- en kills and one block. The junior varsity fell 25 -19, 25 -15 against Rivet. Coach said, "They came out flat. They didn't communicate on the court. They simply got out hustled. We will continue to work on communication and teamwork." CHARGERS NIP SOUTH SPENCER The Lady Chargers had a three-set Pocket Athletic Conference win over the South Spencer Lady Rebels. The first two sets were close at 25 -23 and 26 -24, but the girls claimed the PAC win over the Lady Rebels with a 25 -16 final set. Coach said, "The ladies never gave up. They played as a team. Our serving was good, but our passing was even better. We struggled a bit hitting, but made up for it by working hard and pushing the ball into their defensive holes. I am proud of the team. We are building mo- mentum and confidence at the perfect time as we head toward the sectional." The Tuesday-night, three-set win fea- tured 65 team digs, including 13 by Ash- lyn Shoultz and 12 by Jaize Mills. Ken- zie Powell recorded 17 assists and eight digs, Lexie Onyett with two aces and 10 digs, Maddie Williams with 10 kills and Erika Vinnedge with two aces, nine kills and two digs. Karley had one ace, 17 as- sists, one kill and eight digs, while Hay- lie had eight kills. Shoultz also had one ace and seven kills, while Mills scored three aces. The Charger junior varsity won by the score of 25 -20 and 25 -12. Delaney Welch led with seven aces, one assist and two digs, Liberty Taylor had three kills, Reagan Craig four aces and Tessa Vinnedge scored two aces. Coach said, "They played together and served very well. The team hustled onto the court and played scrappy." VOLLEYBALL Continued from page 1 Charger Jeremy Delobel (#94) ran first for Pike Central, clocking 18:49 in the Pike Central Invi- tational. Charlotte Dudenhoef- fer ran a 23:07 to third place for the Lady Char- gers at the Pike Central Invitational. Charger Noah Rus- sell was two seconds be- hind Shane Woodhull and fourth on the Pike Central team at Prides Creek Park.
