The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, September 30, 2020 B-7 Adam Scales (812) 354-8488 adam.scales@infarmbureau.com Presbyterian Wesleyan covered some alarming facts about Christian homes. The study found that 88 % leave the church at age 18 and most never return. The di- vorce rate among evangelical Christians is almost as bad as that of non-church peo- ple. Each year in America millions of children see their parents divorce. Most mar- ried parents spend little qual- ity time with their children. Bill Glass, the noted foot- ball star turned evangelist, has spent the past 45 years in prison ministry. He said, "I have never found an inmate who loves and respects their father. The father desert- ed them, abused them, was unfaithful to their mother or was never a part of their life." Both father and mother need to remember that "Fam- ilies that pray together stay together." VIEWPOINT Continued from page 5 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 5 Nazarene Methodist Independent Lutheran of a mask which in my opin- ion shows a lack of concern for self and others. I admit we all look like a bunch of ban- dits going on a heist but by wearing a mask we are lim- iting our germs from infect- ing others. I don't think the mask does a whole lot of good to keep other people's germs out but if we would give the masks a chance we might all be protected. I bought a new chainsaw last week because the saw I have been using wasn't enough to cut what we have been cutting. The grandson and I have taken advantage of the beautiful weather condi- tions and got many projects accomplished. It has been en- joyable working and teaching him a few things. Papaw has to remember he is a kid and he needs to play too. With the new saw we cut up and brought out two and a half loads of wood. We have to chunk it up because it is way too heavy and big to move easily. Have you seen the face- book cartoon where Fantasy Island actor Tatoo would say "Da Plane Da plane as they were making reference to the crop dusting plane which was spraying the pumpkin patch behind Walnut Hills Cem- etery. I watched him sever- al nights as his dare devil stunts entertained but I of- ten wondered how safe we neighbors were. I can't imagine myself not having an opinion concern- ing the upcoming Presiden- tial election. I have found myself not claiming to be a Democrat nor a Republi- can because both factions are saying and doing things which are deliberately hurt- ful and demeaning. My opin- ion concerns America and the fact that we are putting our trust into the individual we choose as our leader. This is the neatest of all our free- doms, we get to vote for our choice so I would like them to show they don't have to lower themselves to act out like a bad guy nor a good guy just present yourself honest- ly and humbly. I do understand what my friends say about party plat- forms but I feel sometimes these platforms don't always represent the man or woman. Hey, let's pray that God will get His person in of- fice and that we be guided by His great will for us. Be a blessing next week and show someone God's love. page GLEZEN REVIVAL CENTER 245 S. Glezen Center St. 812-354-6738 or 812-582-9667 Sunday morning worship and children's church 10 :15 a.m. We will be providing hand sanitizer and practicing social distancing. Until this is lifted, we will not be shaking hands or socializing like we have in the past Sundays. Bible Study will be every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Women's Refresh and Re- new will be on Tuesday, Octo- ber 6 at 6:30 p.m. Pray for our military and their protection. Also, remem- ber to pray for the USA, peace, health and for one another. Anxiety vs. Peace "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanks- giving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpass- es all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philip- pians 4:6 -7, NLT). Anxiety is everywhere, I feel, in every home and mind. With times we are go- ing through, I can see why. But even though knowingly it is hard, we need to trust God and pray that he help us in our time of fear and anxiety. He can give you peace that passes all understanding and all you have to do is pray, ask and be- lieve. How wonderful this is that he is there to relieve our stress in every situation. This does not mean that you will not encounter hard times, but that he will be there to guard your heart and mind if you just ask and believe. See our Facebook page Glezen Revival Center. Every time I've failed in my Christian walk its because I have allowed the flesh to have dominion. Does a dead man have offense, pride, jealou- sy, strife, or anger? "So I am not the one living now—it is Christ living in me" (Galatians 2:20). When our spirit is in con- trol, we walk in love. "But I tell you, love your ene- mies. Pray for those who treat you badly" (Matthew 5:44). Thank You, God that You al- ways show me when the dead man (my flesh) rears its ugly head. Flesh is all about self; I, me and mine. So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the King- dom of God, and His righ- teousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? In 1936, a group of pastors launched World-Wide Com- munion Day. Amid the Great Depression, they were look- ing for a way to meet people's spiritual needs and unite Christians in their dedica- tion to Christ. The observance, now known as World Commu- nion Sunday, is held on the first Sunday of October. For eight decades, it has served as a reminder that Chris- tians around the globe share the same meal in remem- brance of Jesus. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. It says that when we have faith and put our trust in God, He will be with us. "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ" (Romans 10 :17). Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, "Don't be afraid; just believe" (Mark 5:36). Faith is not believing that God can—It is knowing that He will. Have a nice week. If anyone has a need, you can call the pastor at 812-354- 3028. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter
