Augusta Broadway Street Winslow Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m.; children's Sunday school during morning wor- ship; Crossfit for the youth at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening. Pastor Tuffy can be seen and heard on Facebook at 10 :15 a.m. on Sunday morning. We are having services, but we are practicing social dis- tance. There will be no chil- dren's church. "You shall surround me with songs of deliverance" (Psalm 12:7). Someone has said that when faith is strong, troubles become trifles. That doesn't mean our troubles aren't re- al, or that we act as if they didn't exist. God takes them seriously, so seriously that He sent Jesus Christ into the world to deal with their cause, which is sin, but just as Jesus triumphed over death, so He helps us triumph over trouble. Even in the midst of troubles, the Bible says, "will turn their mourning into joy" ( Jeremiah 31:13). How does it happen? By looking in faith to God. He has not abandoned us and He has plans for our future. He can even give us an optimistic spirit, somewhat like the En- glishman that was heard about during World War ll who stood looking at the deep hole in the ground where his bombed-out home had once stood. If at any time you have no church to attend, your pres- ence will be greatly appreciat- ed and I am sure you will leave feeling blessed. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter ARTHUR G.B. CHURCH 5670 S. St. Rd. 61 Winslow 812-582-0354 Sunday morning worship at 10 :30 a.m. Business meeting the third Sunday of the month, following morning worship. We continue to take pre- cautions by social distancing as much as possible and ask that everyone wear a mask. We want to be able to contin- ue to worship together. "Wherever I am, though far away at the ends of the earth, I will cry to you for help. When my heart is faint and overwhelmed, lead me to the mighty, towering Rock of safety. For you are my ref- uge, a high tower where my enemies can never reach me" (Psalm 61:2,3). When emotional injuries that were buried long ago come to the surface of life, they transform from past scars to raw, gaping wounds, brand new and scorching. Earthly bandages cannot completely heal the pain. We need God's healing touch, His balm of tenderness up- on us. Only He is our safe refuge when we are afraid to walk through the pain. We have to let God walk us through the healing process. We are safe in His care and He promises to heal our past hurts and keep us safe. Cast your cares, past hurts and disappointments on Him to- day. You are welcome to wor- ship with us. Ralph Newkirk, Pastor Marla Morrison, Reporter IMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH SBC 295 West Main Street Petersburg Church 812-354-9659 Pastor 812-890-9942 Email: awordfitlyspoken@ outlook.com Website: www.immanuel- baptistchurch.weebly.com Sunday morning Bible study at 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :40 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening, Wednesday and Thursday services. "And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou lies down, and when thou ris- es up" (Deuteronomy 11:19). Mission Statement New Beginnings: What would Jesus do? We will strive to be more like Jesus in all that we do. Joseph Roman, Pastor Clara Walls, Reporter WINSLOW G.B. CHURCH 600 E. There will be no Bible study. Social distancing is still in place and until further notice, there will be no children's church or Sunday night fel- lowship. Thought for the week: In ev- erything I do, may Jesus be the one who is always glorified. Be in prayer for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love, because everyone is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. Gary Watson, Pastor Nyles Head, Assoc. Pastor Kathy Henderson, Reporter GLEZEN G.B. CHURCH Corner of Center and Sycamore Sunday worship at 10 :30 a.m.; No Sunday school; Wednesday Bible study at 6:30 p.m. Remember those on our prayer list, the shut-ins and our lost loved ones. Every day, minute and sec- ond, ungodly things are hap- pening around us. When we look down or around, we find envy, disorder, selfish ambi- tion and conflict. We need the wisdom of God to direct us and keep us on the right track. If we don't seek heaven's wis- dom, we will surely serve the world's wisdom. As James says, all good gifts come from God above, so we must look up to find the wisest way to live. "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, consider- ate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere" ( James 3:17). Oct. 3-4: First reading: Isaiah 5:1-7; sec- ond reading: Philippians 4:6 - 9; Gospel: Matthew 21: 33-43. Fr. Frank Renner, Pastor Rev. Mark Wade,Deacon FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH 1400 E. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 This past Sunday we wrapped up our series, We are the Church, looking at how the New Testament calls us all as a church to go, and be disci- ple makers. Though we all in the body of Christ have differ- ent gifts, we all have one call. If you missed any of the three messages from this series I in- vite you to find them on our Facebook page. For many of us the season during this pandemic has been tough, plans have changed, 2020 didn't go the way we ex- pected it to. And some days we don't know what is next. But I remain encouraged that as we go on we can still find hope. We still find hope in God's sov- ereignty. Joseph in the Old Testament told his brothers "You meant this for evil." Meaning they intended evil for him, to beat him, sell him to slavery, and ultimately hope he would die in Egypt, and never to hear of him again. But he continues "God meant it for good…" Jo- seph doesn't say that God de- cided to show up in the midst of the chaos and work with what was there. Not even while his brothers were wishing and doing evil, God was setting up a good that no one could fore- see. So, while the enemy us- es pandemics, pestilence, dis- ease, violence, and death for evil, God is working for the ul- timate good. The good we see when we see Christ on the throne, and as the psalmist says the earth has been made his footstool. Continue to take heart, and have hope. I know I will. Join us this week as we be- gin a two-week series on the book of Jude. Can't wait to see you. DJ Bryant, Pastor VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. "Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may re- joice and be glad all our days" (Psalm 90 :14). I believe this is more a re- quest for realization that the Lord's mercy is satisfying. If we realize it early in life, we will be happier longer. The Lord offers mercy to all, but most people don't seem to want it, because they refuse Him, too. Instead, they look for satisfaction in things that won't last. Where are you look- ing for satisfaction?
