Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Suddreth Sr.; grandmothers, Myrtle Dohse and Mattie Pearl Perry. Survivors include his moth- er, Edna Modean Suddreth of the home; daughter, Angela (Doug) Clark; grandchildren, Trenton and Emerald Clark all of Wister, OK; sisters, Lynne "wonderwoman" (Chuck "Superman") Wilson of the home, Donna Morris of Chickasaw, OK, Sharon (Jeff) Koch of West Chicago, Il and Karen (Ron) Shultz of Gastonia, NC. Survivors also include his mom, Dottie (Raymond) Nelson of Dandridge, TN; sister, Maggie Lovelace of Jefferson, City TN; broth- ers, John (Sharon) Cullen of Carosbad, NM and children Angie and Jeremy, Danny (Lisa) Larsen of Clinton, TN and children Dreama, Shanna, Danielle, and Rayanne, Lenny (Rodenia) country in the United States Army. RICHARD BRISON "DICKY" WHISNANT Richard Brison "Dicky" Whisnant, age 85, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Caromont Regional Hospital in Gastonia. Born in Gaston County on February 7, 1935 he was the son of the late Hal Palmer Whisnant Sr. and wife Thelma Martin Whisnant. Mr. Whisnant served our country in the U.S. Air Force as a Tail Gunner during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents Larsen of Chickasaw, OK and children Richard, Steven and Amanda. A Memorial Service will be scheduled for a later date. BRENDA GAIL STACY NICHOLS Brenda Gail Stacy Nichols, age 70 of Shelby, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at Wendover Hospice. She was born August 19, 1950 in Haywood County to the late Robert Jefferson and Gladys Arulia Arrington Stacy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Patricia Brown, Charles Stacy, Robert Stacy, and Janet Murphy. Survivors include her sig- nificant other, Randy Ruff; daughters, Heather Jones and husband, Tony and Niki Izzi and husband, Tony; granddaughters, Kayla, Sydney, and Brooke Jones; and siblings, Wanda Hyde, Kathy Lancaster, and Ricky Stacy. BETTY JEAN CARTER CHAMPION Betty Jean Carter Champion, age 82, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Atrium Health -Pineville. Born in Cleveland County on February 7, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Charlie Lee Carter and wife Della Ramsey Carter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ray Champion; four sis- ters: Eloise Dysart, Francis White, Virginia Foster, Joyce Hubert; and five brothers: Tom Carter, Bud Carter, John Carter, David Carter and Jimmy Carter. Betty is survived by her son, Jimmy Jones and wife Pamela of Cherryville; two daughters; Mary Jane Jones of the home and Edith "Tiny" Marie Jones Shelby, one sister, Martha Bridges of Lawndale; as well as seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Funeral service was held 11 am Monday, August 31, 2020 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Ervin Price officiating.
