The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, September 2, 2020 A-5 Right to Life Banquet slated for Oct. 15 The Right to Life Banquet will be held this year on Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Simon J. Graber Building off the Odon/ Cannelburg Road. This Ban- quet is sponsored joining by Daviess and Martin and Pike County Right to Life Groups and invite the general public to reserve this date and attend this special event in October. The Speaker for the Ban- quet this year is U.S. Senator Mike Braun who was elect- ed in November of 2018. Pri- or to that Mike Braun was the State Representative for Indi- ana House District 63 from 2014 to 2017 when he resigned to run for U.S. Senate. Sena- tor Braun defeated two sit- ting Congressman in the pri- mary of 2018 and defeated an incumbent Senator in the Fall of 2018. Senator Mike Braun has always been a strong sup- porter of the Right to Life and for protection of the unborn since his early days in the In- diana House. It will be somewhat differ- ent at this year's banquet as only 250 tickets will be sold and the Banquet will conform to health department recom- mendations as masks will be required along with social dis- tancing requirements and oth- er recommendations from the health department. The Right to Life Banquet which normally draws over 500 people each year is one of the larger Right to Life Ban- quets in the State but this year only 250 tickets will be sold. Tickets for the Banquet are $15 for Adults and $10 for Students. They are available by calling 812-486 -3658. TRI-CAP received $5,000 to assist Pike Coun- ty residents with enrollment in affordable health in- surance with their Healthcare Navigation Program. Due to COVID and the growing number of people los- ing employment and their health insurance, this pro- gram is greatly helping the residents with health in- surance. Services are free, local and unbiased. The last ERI Grant Award for Phase 1 was awarded to the Pike County Public Library. They received $5,500 to help fund their Digital Pop-Up Library. The Digital Pop-Up Library allows the library to bring access to books to wherever there is a gathering of people.
