Vincennes won the meet with a team score of 206. Pike Central had a 230 and North Daviess a 236. Chloe Williams shot a 52 for the Chargers' low score. Nevi Lemond had a 55 and Sydney Loveless a 58. Loveless had a nifty shot out of the ditch in front of hole 2. She had a playable lie and hit it to within three feet of the hole. Sophie Carnahan carded a 65 for the Chargers. Vincennes number one player was the medalist with 44. All their players shot 56 or better for their 206. Dillon and Ross win bass tourney This past week's 63 Group Covid-19 Bass Tourney featured a win by the team of Beau Dillon and Isaac Ross, and a big bass catch by Alan Faith. Keith Brock and Allen Nelson joined forces for second place, and Alan Faith and Kenny Osgatharp took third. Josh Braunecker and Josh Braunecker, Sr. took the fourth place prize. This week, the tourney is at Prides Creek Park Lake. including a huge scamper for pay dirt courtesy Keegan Clutter with a minute to go in the first quarter, took the wind out of the Chargers' sails ear- ly on. That 20 -0 first quarter with just 1:19 remaining was followed up with a short kick. A stalled Charger offense gave the Braves the ball at midfield and with just 11 ticks off the second-quarter clock, Tecumseh's Chase Jones ran for 45 yards and their fourth touchdown. One big stop on the Braves' offense was made when Charger fresh- man Quade Morton hauled in a clutch interception, but a third-and-six pass from Lars Utterback was picked off. Te- cumseh was threatening after a flag, and then a first-and-ten Tecumseh pass was picked up by Morton to end their of- fense. But on fourth and 24, Utterback's toss to Morton failed and Morton was shak- en up on the play as time ran out in the half. Tecumseh recovered an early third quarter fumble on third and two, and then five plays later, Chase Jones raced up the middle for the Tecum- seh 33-0 lead. Pike Central covered a short kick, but their drive stalled out after a fum- ble and run by Keegan Clutter down the left side made it a 39 - 0 final. Arri McDonald made a 20 -yard return of the kick- off, but the third-quarter drive that started on the 32 ended going into the fourth. Nei- ther team had offensive suc- cess in the fourth quarter. Te- cumseh was fourth and seven on their own 42, but the punt was picked up by Klutter and the Braves failed to capitalize. Brayden Howald is side- lined for the season with a bro- ken collarbone and Wyatt Fra- sure was found to be unavail- able for play just four hours be- fore game time. Lars Utterback was seven of 23 for the game with 29 yards. Morton made two catches for 21 yards and Stephen Krieg had two receptions for 10 yards. Colson Dillard had two for three yards and Arri Mc- Donald caught one for a minus five yards. Jagar Dent stepped up and made five rushes for 48 yards and Morton had nine attempts for 13 yards. Colson Dillard had three rushes for four yards and Utterback carried the ball seven times for minus 18 yards. Charger head football coach Dave Stephens com- mented, "Howald will be out for the season with a broken collarbone. He's a tough kid, but it will be 12 weeks before it's healed." Howald had made seven first quarter tackles in the Brown County opener and went out of the game in the first quarter after intercept- ing a pass and taking a hit on the sideline. Another key play- er not on the field Friday was Charger running back Wyatt Frasure. Coach said, "On Fri- day at 2:30 p.m., I was told that Frasure would not be avail- able. Hopefully, he'll be back next week." The lineup chang- es included substitutions for Howald, Frasure, Gabe Hin- ton and Billy Payne. Coach said, "It was a tough night on offense. They sent four or more, and we were not able to handle it. There was a couple busted plays and at times we had a player at the wrong spot. We were mis- aligned at times and it wasn't the same player. One out of eight or nine plays we would have a position wrong. We had some players and some fresh- men that shouldn't have had to play a skilled position. We lost a day of practice and part of a day to pictures that exacerbat- ed" the problem of preparing for Tecumseh with gaps in the lineup to be filled. Coach added, "If we go back and look at the films, we'll find it was not a total team offense, but one position on one play and a different position on an- other play. Eight or nine out of ten times, we were where we needed to be. It wasn't as bad as I thought. We were not as far off as it looked. "Friday we travel to South Spencer and they are kind of like us, with an 0 -2 record, struggling on offense. We al- so could not handle the blitz. We must trust our techniques to handle the blitz."
