The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, September 2, 2020 B-11 MINUTES Continued from page 9 Presbyterian Wesleyan utes a day reading. According to the Ameri- can Bible Society, the com- plete Bible has been pub- lished in 341 languages and the New Testament in 822. At least one book of the Bi- ble is available in 2,092 of the world's estimated 6,000 language dialects. There is a new battle over the Bible as liberal theolo- gians seek to re-engineer society and to make the Bi- ble gender free and politi- cally correct. This is a dan- gerous trend and should be opposed by Christian peo- ple. The Bible is very clear regarding issues like abor- tion, homosexuality and co-habitation. Many seeker sensitive pastors want sin to be less sinful and make it easy for church members to fit into many of the evils in our culture. All true evan- gelicals believe the Bible makes a clear distinction between men and women. Christians need to stand firm against all efforts to change the Word of God. VIEWPOINT Continued from page 9 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 9 Oh well, we still have about three months before the gen- eral election and I'm already tired of hearing the politick- ing, I guess such is life. We didn't have church Sun- day because most of them were going to be unavailable for church. My wife woke up not feeling well and as I was heading out to go to church myself I turned around quick- ly and went back home with an upset stomach. We both feel better so maybe we'll make it to the fifth Sunday singing at Cup Creek. We have a dedication as part of our singing service tonight. Our friend Bobby Majors has given the church a beautiful mural of Jesus knocking at the door and we are dedicating it to God and we pray anyone seeing it will realize that Jesus knocks on our heart and we are to let Him in. Well this is going to be a short Rambling because it has been a rather calm week without much going on. So be blessed and be a blessing whenever you can. So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. Sunday morning service 10 :15 a.m.; Sunday school at 11 a.m. We are back to having Sunday services. As a child of God, we are to exemplify Jesus in our every- day life, not just in church on Sunday. We are not to do any- thing that would bring shame and dishonor to Jesus. We are to walk in life with the fruit of the Spirit, not the works of the flesh. Look into the Word of God, which as a mirror will re- flect who you are. Keep our president, vice-president and the cabi- net in your prayers that the right decisions will be made. How can we know wheth- er we're following God's will? Sometimes we act, only to see in hindsight that we caused harm. Or self-righteousness blinds us to the good guid- ance of others. Think of a time you made a decision and then felt peaceful, full of light, convinced it was "right." And when have you done some- thing despite feeling tangled in knots about it, and perhaps later felt worse? Life isn't al- ways so clear-cut, but the more we practice discern- ment, the better we will rec- ognize and follow God's will. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Telling others about Jesus involves sharing the simple good news of salvation, as well as what God has done in your own life. When we are living for Je- sus, our attitudes and ac- tions will often be different from those around us who don't know Him. Our friends may ask us about this differ- ence, so it's important to be prepared and know what to say. The Bible tells us in I Peter 3:15, "But make sure in your hearts that Christ is Lord. Always be ready to give an answer to any- one who asks you about the hope you have. Be ready to give the reason for it. But do it gently and with respect." Pray and ask God to give you the right words to say and to show you the best time to say them. Tell peo- ple about the difference Je- sus has made in your life, and the hope and peace you have because of Him. If anyone has a need, you can call the pastor at 812- 354-3028.
