Believe for the possible "Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that be- lieves" (Mark 9:23, K JV ). I think that in this world of war, trial and tribula- tion we all have a hard time trusting that God knows our path and is guiding us in the right direction. We get too lost in our emotions, jobs and circumstances to re- member that if we just be- lieve in God he will meet our needs; be it that job you are in need of, the house you have been looking for, or maybe the family time you desperately desire. God has a plan for all of us, to help and not harm us. Remember to believe in him and he will make all things possible for your life. God bless you and keep you. Sermon Title: "The Voice of Miriam." Scripture reading: Exodus 2:5 -10. Theme statement: The purpose of Advent is to pre- pare for the first coming of Christ Jesus born in a man- ger. Long before the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary, the Lord spoke to many other women about who we know very little and whose voices are often never heard. Mir- iam, Moses' older sister, is a voice that needs to be heard and her message un- derstood. There are three ways that Miriam's voice is gifted. 1. Her voice speaks of de- liverance. 2. Her voice speaks of a nation. 3. Her voice speaks of the Law Giver. Leon Pomeroy, Pastor PETERSBURG FREE METHODIST CHURCH 202 E. SR 56 in Bowman 812-582-8896 Sunday morning worship 9 a.m.; Sunday school 10 :15 a.m. We are exploring the words in Philippians 4:4-9 and how they can help us thrive in chaos. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. David Warren, Pastor Jeannine Smith, Reporter HOUSE OF MERCY CHURCH Corner of East and Porter Winslow Pastor 812-789-5229 A Church with open arms and a loving heart. Sunday morning worship service at 10 :15 a.m.; Sun- day school at 11 a.m. We just had a holiday where family came together and we celebrated Thanks- giving. Were you one that had a thankful heart that day? We need to celebrate Thanksgiving everyday, one for the freedom we have, the ability to have a job, to have a home, and even to have a family; also, that we can have Jesus in our hearts and lives and freely worship in a church of our choice and have a Bible in our hands. Have you been thankful and will everyday be a day of thanksgiving? Keep the hurting, help- less, and hopeless people in your prayers. Also, pray for the sick, hospitalized ones, nursing home resi- dents, your neighbors and your loved ones that do not know Jesus. Have a blessed week and see you in church Sunday. George Bruce, Pastor MAIN STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 10th and Main Streets, Petersburg 812-354-6844 Sunday worship 10 :30 a.m.; Youth group Monday evening at 6 p.m. Come vis- it us. Our doors are always open to you. For most of us, the men- tion of mistletoe probably brings kissing to mind. But that practice wasn't the first involving mistletoe. Two thousand years be- fore Christ, the ancient Celt- ic people living in Gaul con- sidered mistletoe to be sa- cred and medicinal. Dru- ids, the priests of the Celtic tribes, used it in religious ceremonies held in tree groves where mistletoe was found. In ancient Scandinavia, enemies, who met by chance beneath mistletoe, laid down their weapons and held a truce until the next day. This practice eventually led to the tradition of kissing un- der the mistletoe, the "plant of peace." The use of mistletoe has continued throughout the centuries during the Christ- mas season as a decoration and as a symbol of fun and joy. But its early religious roots and peacemaking qualities are even more sig- nificant. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Boyd Heldring, Pastor Amy Melhiser, Secretary
