Following dinner catered by The Millhouse, Mike Braun addressed the gather- ing and then sat down with Mark Flint for a question- and-answer format. Prior to the questions, Braun stated it was pain- ful to see his company drug through the dirt. Braun al- so talked about sleepy Joe (Donnelly) and the Presi- dent on Twitter. He stated that his own name recogni- tion was somewhat less than Joe's (92 vs. 86 percent), but that his can go up. He said he felt the election would be different if there was any truth to any of the negative advertising. He said that 41 violations such as "a broken taillight wasn't much over 37 years in business with 350 trucks on the road." Braun suggested that Donnelly is "Campaigning on negativity because he has no agenda. None of it is based on the truth." He spoke of the grass roots ef- fort here and the big mon- ey from the east Donnelly has through the dark mon- ey from the PACs (Political action committees). Braun opposed the one- term, pension for life and the federal government spend- ing more than they have in- stead of "like the rest of us." The evening dinner and pie auction at IPL was kicked off with a welcome and introductions by Pike County Republican Chair- man Mark Flint. Dennis Bishop led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the prayer by Rev. Frank Coleman. Pike County Republican Chairman Mark Flint sat with U.S. Senate candi- date Mike Braun in a question-and-answer session following Braun's presen- tation to a capacity crowd this past Thursday. The annual Lincoln Day Din- ner was at the IPL Communications Building and included local elected offi- cials and candidates who enjoyed a dinner catered by The Millhouse and end- ing with Pike County's "Famous" Pie Auction, conducted by Roger Craig. The welcome was by Mark Flint, with Dennis Bishop leading the "Pledge of Alle- giance" and prayer by Reverend Frank Coleman. More than a dozen pies went for between $45 and $200 that night, with the Velpen Trucking and Disposal Company table winning bids on far more than their share.
