The campaign has since become one of the longest-running and most recognizable fundraising efforts in the world. Kettles are now used in such distant lands as Korea, Japan, Chile and throughout Europe. In 2005, the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton selected The Salvation Army as one of the world's top ten enduring institutions. While the Salvation Army is recognized around the world, the money raised in the ket- tles of Pike and Gibson Counties serves only the people of Pike and Gibson Counties. Between January and October of 2012 the money from the local kettles provided: 1,760 food baskets, 25 families with emergency housing, nine families with rent and/or mortgage assistance, 79 families with utility assistance, and 18,900 articles of clothing, diapers, toys, etc. When you can't be there, the Pike/Gibson Salvation Army helps your neighbors in need. There are only two weekends left to give in the annual red kettle drive. Facts courtesy of Lt. Jonathan Cooper, commander of the Pike/Gibson Salvation Army. Save 30% OFF All Christmas Decor!
