"Creating Hope" For Cancer Patients - Jas- per Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center- is offering Creating Hope® sessions on the first and second Tuesday of each month from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The next sessions will be held on Tuesdays, March 6 and 13. These sessions are designed for cancer patients, their families and caregivers. Art materials and an instructional book are available at each session. No previous art experience is needed. Creating Hope® is an Indiana-based non-prof- it organization that uses creative expression as a coping mechanism for patients with cancer. Three Pike Central precision machining students participate in State competition Three Pike Central precision machining technology students participated in the 15th Annual High School Machining State Competition sponsored by the Indiana chapter of the National Tooling and Ma- chining Association at the Central 9 Career Center in Greenwood, Ind., on Saturday, Feb. 17. Nathan Wehr (center) placed second in the precision machining area and won a $1,000 scholarship to Vincennes University, a machinist tool box and approximately $2,000 in tools. Matthew Dick (right) placed third in the CNC division and won a $500 scholarship to Vincennes University and an assortment of machinist tools valued at around $250. Also competing was Alonzo Barnes (left). The students competed against 22 other students from 11 other schools. The competition consisted of a written theory and shop math test, measurement, mill, lathe and surface grinder exercises, a submitted resume and mock interviews. Submitted Photo
