Until when? Religious Viewpoint by Clyde Dupin Minutes with the Bible by Pastor Cornelius R. Stam Values have slowly disappeared from the American landscape. Even words like free- dom and liberty have been given new defini- tions. Our civil laws have been redefined as a result of the media liberalism. Values are just another word that has lost its true mean- ing. The values and laws that define Amer- ica gave us dignity and freedom. The new American culture first attacked our Chris- tian values and then came the attack on our civil laws. Many are shocked, distressed and won- der how this change could happen in our beloved country. Did the politicians let us down? Did our pas- tors become so seek- er sensitive they failed to warn about popular sins? Did our institutions of higher learning cause the problem? Maybe it was the elite media. President Trump of- ten calls the media fake news. One of the greatest prophecies of Scrip- ture is found in Psalm 110 :1 where David wrote: "The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit Thou at My right hand until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool." In Matt. 22:41-46 our Lord explained that this was a prophecy about Himself, David's Son and Lord. Men might hate Him and cry "Away with Him! " They might nail Him to a tree and laugh and sneer at Him, but God the Father responds by saying: "Here, come sit at My right hand until I make your ene- mies your footstool." We should never forget that according to Bible prophecy God's response to man's re- jection of Christ was to be judgment and wrath. In Psalm 2 the question is asked why the nations rage and the people of Israel imagine a vain thing: that they can get along without the One whom God has anointed to be King. The Psalm depicts God laugh- ing at their attempts to thwart His purpos- es and predicts that "the Lord shall have them in derision" and "speak unto them in His wrath." At Pentecost all was ready for the judg- ment to fall. Christ had been crucified and "the last days" had begun, as Peter declared in Acts 2:16,17, quoting from the prophet Jo- el. But strangely, while some of Joel's proph- ecy was fulfilled, or began to be fulfilled, at that time, the rest of it was not, for God did not — and has not yet — sent the prophe- sied judgment. Thank God, in infinite grace He interrupt- ed the prophetic program, delayed the re- mainder of its fulfillment and revealed to the Apostle Paul His secret purpose to offer to His enemies everywhere salvation and rec- onciliation by free grace, through faith in the crucified, risen Savior. In His Ephesian letter the Apostle asks whether they have heard of "the dispensation of the grace of God, which is given me to you-ward; how that by revelation He made known unto me the mystery" (Eph. 3:1-3). Now, thank God, His eternal purpose in Christ is no lon- ger a secret. While the day of grace lasts we may be "justified freely by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Je- sus" (Rom. 3:24). They con- stantly define right as wrong and wrong is called right. Day after day they show us on- ly part of the story and with sound bites at- tack morality. There is a vicious attack daily on Christianity, family values, and conser- vative political leaders. They distort Chris- tian values and glorify evil of every kind. They have the money, power and media to put their spin on any news item and make decency and true values look outdated and irrelevant to our day. They hammer away day after day until people begin to believe their liberal ideas and forget the Bible and our great American heritage. Any one who lifts a voice of opposition is immediately cut down and destroyed. A society without val- ues and civil law cannot stand forever. RIVER OF LIFE 342 E. CR 300 N. Gary Pancake, Pastor Ivan Mason, Reporter This Sunday will be a soup/sandwich carry-in fol- lowing morning worship where we will be hosting a Gideon speaker. Come and hear how God continues to bless these men and their mission. True life is in God and not in the things of this world. Often our priorities are mis- directed, and our hearts chase after too many things for the wrong reasons and in the wrong ways. Focus- ing all our time and energy on the acquisition and main- tenance of things, and plac- ing our sense of security in them is not healthy, and is the path away from real life. Jesus preached the right priority in the Sermon on the Mount: "Seek first his kingdom and his righteous- ness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). "Fight your good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witness- es" (I Timothy 6:12). Remember those on our prayer list, the shut ins and our lost loved ones. Ken Reeder, Pastor Karri Brock, Reporter
