Second graders participated in an online St. Patrick's Day experiment to determine if Lucky Charms have mostly clover marshmallows. One hundred thirty-three classrooms across the US participated and counted a total of 61,221 marshmallows. After tallying the marshmallows, the second graders made graphs online to display the results. During Newspaper in Education Week, Otwell Elementary second graders reviewed nonfiction text features. Students are shown cutting exam- ples of text features from the newspaper. They explained the program to future 6th graders and different opportunities that they will have when they go to Pike Central next year.
