Allison Williams, our cover girl, epitomizes the New England girl-next-door. She is bright and savvy, grew up appreciating the region's natural beauty, is willing to work hard to make her dreams a reality, and, most importantly, doesn't take herself too seriously. Much of that can be said for some of the other stars profiled in our pages this issue. I have loved The Lenox hotel for years—it has always been that iconic hotel most associated with Boston—but I didn't realize until researching this issue that it remains family-run, with three generations currently at the helm in some capacity. No one can be that good, can they? But Roger is. He donates generously to our top cultural institutions and sends the children and grandchildren of Lenox hotel staffers and other Boston-area hotel employees to Newbury College's hotel-and-restaurant-management school gratis. He listens to his sons, guides his grandchildren, truly loves our city, and, despite his many years leading such a famous brand, remains completely grounded. He is that rare gem. Another jewel—and former Boston Common cover star—in Boston's crown was recently in town, and we had the chance to celebrate with him. Mark Wahlberg hosted the local premiere of his new movie Broken City, and we were happy to partner with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation for the event at Wahlburgers in Hingham after the screening, further tribute to the creative talent here in New England.
