(Arison) Cox, 73, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2002, at her home. She is survived by her hus- band of 56 years, Dennis R. Cox; children, Gena (Robert) Ruppel, Denise (Tom) Ballard and Dennis Cox, Jr.; grand- children, Ryan (Stephanie) Ruppel and Sammy Ballard; great-granddaughter, Sydal- ee Ruppel; half-sisters, Sher- ry Ramsey and Fran McIntire; and a niece, Theresa Dreiman. She was preceded in death by her mother, Genevieve Ari- son; sister, Shirley Graham; brother, Bobby Arison; and nephew, Terry Graham. WILLIS Paula Lorraine Willis, 71, of Oakland City, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburg, with her loving family and friends at her side, on Monday April 25, 2022. She was born in Princeton, on January 16, 1951, to Paul and Margaret (Drury) Net- tleton. She graduated from Wood Memorial High School in 1969. She became a beauti- cian and later began work- ing in the office of several au- to dealers. She worked at Ju- lian's Motors in Danville, Ill., Princeton Ford, Bob Kranitz GMC, and Patriot GMC where she retired as Office Manager. She enjoyed decorating her home for each Holiday, espe- cially Christmas. Her collec- tion of Santa Clauses num- bers in the hundreds. She en- joyed entertaining her grand- children and attended every athletic and school event that she possibly could. She was a member of Golden Fleece Chapter No. 176 Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Oakland City. She is survived by her hus- band of fifty years, Kenneth Willis, of Oakland City; her daughter, Amanda ( Jason) Riggs, of Mt. Carmel Ill.; sis- ter, Beth (Orville) Drury, of Graham N.C.; uncle, Jack (Andrea) Drury, of Hender- son, Ky.; aunt, Mariedith Morton, of Winslow; mother- in-law, Elsie Willis, of Som- merville; sister-in-law, Nan- cy (Mike) Bruce, of Evans- ville; brother-in-law, David (Trudy) Willis, of Sommer- ville; niece, Sue ( Jerry) Wil- lis, of Durham N.C.; nephew, David (April) Bruce, of Princ- eton; niece, Shannon (Mike) McMunn, of Poseyville; niece, Megan (Todd) Travis, of Dale; numerous cousins, grand nieces and nephews; life long friend, Jane Haag; and final- ly her three grandchildren whom she loved to the moon and back times infinity, Zach- ary Riggs, Rilee Riggs, and Madison Riggs, all of Mr. Car- mel, Ill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children. ROBERT W. BRENTON Robert Wayne Brenton, 68, of Petersburg, passed away May 1, 2022 in Evansville. He was born June 1, 1953, to David Joseph and Beatrice (Colvin) Brenton, in Washing- ton. He is survived by his daugh- ter, Shelly ( Jay) Powell; grand- children, Cole, Conner, and Kenzie Powell; brothers, James Leroy (Penny) Bren- ton, Joe (Marie) Brenton, and Kevin Brenton. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, He- ber Brenton. There will be no services at this time. Harris Funeral Home is en- trusted with his care. DENNY J. LONG Denny J. Long, 57, of Wash- ington, passed away on April 24, 2022, at his residence in Washington. He was born on September 13, 1964, at Daviess Commu- nity Hospital in Washington, to Bill Long and Diane Kay (Chastain) Long. He was a 1982 graduate of North Daviess High School. He worked in maintenance at AES Indiana (formerly known as IPL Energy) for 36 - 37 years. Denny attended the Wheatland Christian Church in Wheatland, and enjoyed be- ing involved with the church. In his spare time, he enjoyed messing around the house and tinkering in his garage. Most importantly, he loved spend- ing time with his children and his two grandchildren. Surviving is his mother, Diane Kay (Chastain) Long; his daughter, Ashley (Alan) Sims, of Washington; his two grandchildren; his son, Ty- ler (Ashley Gilmore) Long, of Evansville; his sister, Cindy (Rich) Halter; his brother, Bill Dwayne Long; several niec- es and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Long. A memorial service was at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Goodwin Sievers Fu- neral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, Indiana 47501, with Pastor Brent Cramer of- ficiating. Cardinal, 83, of Monroe City, passed away April 27, 2022. She was born to the late Donald B. and Fern (Perry) Cardinal on August 29, 1938, in Monroe City. She graduated from Mon- roe City High School in 1956 and continued her education by obtaining an associate de- gree in nursing. She worked for Good Samaritan Hospital for 40 + years. She was a mem- ber of the Monroe City High School Alumni Association and a volunteer for the Blue Jean Center. She enjoyed read- ing and cooking for her family and friends. She is survived by her chil- dren, Pamella (David) Vo- ries and Michael (Nancee) Scott; four grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and sis- ter-in-law, Pamela Cardinal. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Larry Cardinal. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Wilson Creek Cem- etery. SHOUP James B. Shoup, 80, of Washington, formerly of Pe- tersburg, went to his heaven- ly home on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, while surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Peoria, Ill. on January 2, 1942, to the late Josephine Rice Shoup and Melvin M. Shoup. He married his dear wife, Beverly Siever Shoup on November 18, 1967, in Creve Coeur, Ill. He was a bookkeeper for B&W Construction for over twenty years; after his tenure there, he worked for Kimball International from where he retired. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church and enjoyed fellowship with his church family and his fam- ily at home. He liked model cars, singing, playing games on the computer, working crossword puzzles, and in his younger years bowling. He was a United States Army Vet- eran who served in Vietnam and was also stationed in Ger- many while serving his coun- try. Those left to mourn the loss are; his devoted wife, Beverly Shoup; children, Lori Garcia, Erick (Staci) Shoup, and Kelly (Ryan) Atkins; five grandchil- dren; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Melvin J. Shoup. Funeral services were at noon on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at New Hope Christian Church, 559 E. 100 S. EDITH R AINEY Edith Rainey, 87, of Spur- geon, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at her beloved sister's home surrounded by her family. She was born February 7, 1935, in 2nd Creek, Ky., to Jo- seph and MaryBell Duff. She was a proud Kentuckian and spoke often of her childhood in the foothills with her sib- lings. Her parents moved to Indianapolis for work when Edith was young, where she later made her way to South- ern Indiana to settle down. She enjoyed cooking, bak- ing, crafting, fishing, tending to her yard, and spending time with family. She also devoted many years of her life volun- teering her services at Bread of Life Ministries. She never met a stranger and showed ev- eryone she met unconditional love and acceptance. She is survived by her sis- ter, Nellie Shoultz; children, Bonnie Hudson, James Clark, Curtis (Michelle) Genco, Mark ( Judy) Mason, Rebec- ca Perez, Linda (Kevin) Per- ry, Tonya (Paul) Wilson, La- Donna (Lee) Turner, and Am- ber (Randy) Wilkins; and nu- merous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Mason; second husband, Ar- ville Rainey; sons, Danny "Peanut" Clark, Frank Gen- co, and Dale Mason; her par- ents, Joseph and MaryBell Duff; and brother, David Duff. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. EST, on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Lamb-Basham Memo- rial Chapel, in Oakland City. Burial will be at New Liber- ty Greater Baptist Church, in Coe. Toney, age 68, of Winslow, passed away at 5:33 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, in the Northwood Retirement Community, in Jasper. She was born in Oakland City, on June 14, 1953, to Don- ald and Sara (Barnett) O'Neill. She married Stanley Toney on September 10, 1971, in Mt. Ol- ive Church, in Cato. She was a 1971 graduate of Otwell High School. She previously worked at the H&R Block in Peters- burg preparing taxes, and then most recently as an ER Greeter at Memorial Hospital, where she had worked for over 18 years. She enjoyed doing craft- work, arranging flowers, cook- ing, and spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Stanley Toney, of Winslow; one sister, Elaine Fair, of Pe- tersburg; one brother, Don- ald (Nancy) O'Neill, of Can- nelburg; nieces and nephews; and several step-siblings. Preceding her in death are her parents; and a brother-in- law, Brad Fair. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
