The sur- vey is for all users of these lakes, not just anglers. The survey asks questions about a user's day at the lake and their satisfaction regard- ing access, cleanliness, and fishing opportunities. Signs displaying a QR code have been placed near the ac- cess sites at each lake. Users access the survey by opening the camera app on their mo- bile phone and holding it over the QR code for a few sec- onds until the survey notifi- cation pops up. Harris was given four tick- ets to a VIP suite for the New York Mets game with Arizona Diamondbacks on Gil Hodg- es Day. He got to attend the pre- game press conference with Mets Manager Buck Showal- ter. He also attended a press conference with Josh Rawitch, President of the Major League Hall of Fame, former Yankees Manager and player Joe Torre, who also played for Hodges, when Hodges managed the Mets. Torre told a story that his mother was invited on the To- day morning news show for an interview. Torre's brother, Frank also played in the ma- jors at the same time as Joe. Torre said when the inter- viewer asked his mother who her favorite baseball player was, she answered "Gil Hodg- es" on national T V. Hodges' son Gil Jr. and daughters Cynthia and Irene were at the game and threw out the first pitch. "A friend of mine in the Mets organization, Jay Horow- itz, invited me to the come the game," said Harris. "It was a great day to pay homage to Gil Hodges, his children and his grandchil- dren," said Harris. Hodges, a native of Peters- burg, was elected to the Hall of Fame in December of 2021. He will be officially inducted this summer. "I think after 30 years of working toward Gil going into the Hall of Fame I have made some friends throughout the US. We have been on this bandwagon for a long time. It was very nice that Jay offered us the opportunity," said Har- ris of getting to take part in the Mets' Gil Hodges Day. Jeff Nelson, Jon Craig and John Heuring attended the ceremony and game with Har- ris on Saturday in New York. "I have an article hanging on the wall in the Gil Hodges room of the cafe. It was writ- ten by Evansville Courier and Press Sports Editor, Dave Johnson in 1978 about Hodg- es. Dave wrote, 'Hodges' in- duction is long overdue. So many of his fans are gone, but better late than never.'" Harris added, " It is a great honor for Petersburg, Pike County and Gibson County." Randy Harris visited with Gil Hodges' family Saturday at the New York Mets clubhouse. The Hodges were there to throw out the first pitch before the Mets game with Arizona on Gil Hodges Day. Hodges was the Mets manager in 1969 when they won the World Series. Above are Hodges' children Cynthia, Gil Jr., Harris and Irene.
