He was born on August 16, 1955, in Huntingburg, to Don and Sue (McCandless) Rus- sell. A fter graduating from Winslow High School in 1973, he attended IT T Tech and pur- sued a lifelong career as a coal miner. A fter retiring from Amax Coal, he worked part time at Do It Best Hardware in Petersburg and Styline Logis- tics. He was hard-working and caring. He was always helping others and providing handy- man services as needed. He had a passion for music and listened to several differ- ent genres. He enjoyed play- ing the bass at the Muren Church of God. He also loved playing pool and watching his grandkids in various sporting events. When he wasn't doing all of that, he spent his time riding his 2006 Harley Fat- boy. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1617 in Peters- burg and of Winslow Masonic Lodge # 260. Survived by his parents, Don and Sue Russell, of Winslow; children, Danielle (Brian) Boxdorfer, of Olney, Ill., Lloyd (Rebecca) Russell, of Huntingburg, and Paul (Am- ber) Russell, of Petersburg; sisters, Susanne ( Jeff ) Robert- son and Debbie Hale, both of Winslow; four grandchildren, Alexis Emmons, Landry Rus- sell, Taylor Russell and Leona Boxdorfer; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Russell. Services were at 10 a.m. EDT on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Lamb-Basham Me- morial Chapel, with Rev. Clint Woolsey officiating. Burial fol- lowed in Augusta Cemetery in Augusta. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. EDT on Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time at the chapel. Family and friends may send messages of comfort to www.lambbasham.com. EVELYN L. STAFFORD Evelyn L. Stafford, 98, passed away at 4:20 p.m. on July 31, 2021, at the Lodge of the Wabash. She was born on May 23, 1923, in Lawrenceville, Ill., the daughter of Leo and Mae (Robinson) Junkin. She mar- ried Horace D. Stafford and he preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Mon- roe City High School and worked as a Ward Clerk at Good Samaritan Hospital. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her sisters. Survivors include her sis- ters, Theresa McArthur, of Bloomington, and Shirley Wiltrout, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; daugh- ters-in-law, Shirley Burress, of Monroe City, and Sondra Staf- ford, of Monroe City; stepson, Prent Stafford, of Petersburg; three nieces; and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Horace Stafford; her sons, Don and Gary Stafford; and a sister, Helen Adams. Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broad- way, Vincennes, with Elaine Young officiating. She will be laid to rest in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Perinatal Loss Support – Expectant par- ents who suddenly lose their child often ex- perience a wide range of emotions and grief. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center offers support to assist those who have ex- perienced the loss of a child (conception to one month of age) through the grieving pro- cess, and provide an atmosphere of confiden- tiality and comfort. Grief Support Series-The death of a loved one, a child leaving home, overwhelm- ing changes in one's personal life – each can cause profound grief and suffering. To offer reassurance and comfort, Memorial Hospi- tal and Health Care Center has developed a free support program called "Grief Support Series." In this program, participants will learn that grief is normal, examine the various emotions of grief, be encouraged to face the pain, and find ways to make a healthy emo- tional withdrawal from the loss. Conducting the sessions will be Theresa O'Bryan, Hos- pital Chaplain, and Tom Holsworth, a clinical psychologist who has served as a co-facilita- tor of this program since its inception in 1991. This is the main location for this Paper Drive, with hours from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. "Your Health and Diabetes" Educa- tion–Discovering the diagnosis of diabetes can be overwhelming. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center wants to support you in this transition of lifestyle, and sponsors a continuing education group for persons with diabetes, pre-diabetes, or anyone who is in- terested in learning about the disease. The topic for the August class is "Feelings about Diabetes." This support group is held the third Monday of each month and provides knowledge to help you feel more secure, manage problems, and avoid hospitalization for diabetes-related issues. Stroke Survivor and Caregiver Sup- port Group-Stroke care doesn't end when you leave the hospital. Many stroke survi- vors and their caregivers experience a range of emotions as they adjust back to normal dai- ly activities. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, in conjunction with University of Louisville Health, is offering a new, free support group where stroke survivors and their family/caregivers can talk openly with others who share similar experiences. The first support group will be on Tuesday, August 24, from 1-3 p.m. in the Medical Arts Building Conference Center located at 721 W. 13th Street in Jasper. The support group will be held monthly. She was born on September 7, 1969, in Washington, to Jer- ry and Alycia Church. She was an artist who used her talents with arts and crafts. She also worked in graphic design, loved garden- ing and all animals. Most im- portantly, she loved her family. She is survived by her chil- dren, Megan ( James Knezev- ich) Oskins, Joshua Oskins and Chloe Ferguson; her mother, Alycia (Robert) Fick- lin; brother, Jared Church; and her dog, Duke, cat, Milo, and her grandbunny, Biscuit. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Church. At her request, a private family service was on Mon- day, August 2, 2021, at Sunset Cemetery in Evansville. ELDON RUSSELL BUTCHER Eldon Russell Butcher, 74, of Oakland City, died on Au- gust 2, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway in Evansville. He was born November 25, 1946, to Ruby (Buck) and Wil- liam Butcher. He was a graduate of Mack- ey High School in 1964 and at- tended Oakland City College, where he graduated with a de- gree in art education in 1968. He went on to further his ed- ucation with a master's de- gree from Ball State Universi- ty. He was an art and photog- raphy teacher at East Central High School in Sunman, Ind. Upon moving back to Oakland City, he taught art one year at Wood Memorial High School and then taught in the South Spencer School Corporation for 21 years. During his time teaching, he coached girls' and boys' basketball. He was a writer and pho- tographer for several racing newspapers in the Tri-State area. He later served as com- petition director for Midwest Sprint Car Series. Besides art, photography and racing, he enjoyed collecting 1950's pottery, early cowboy comics and movies, and researching his and his wife's family gene- alogy. He is survived by his wife, Oleva (McKinney) Butcher; sons, John (Sherry) and Aaron (Kelly Ingle); grandchildren, Grace, Lincoln and Logan; and nephews, Lloyd Alan and Cur- tis Lee Butcher. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lloyd Butcher. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. CDT on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Corn-Colvin Funer- al Home in Oakland City. In- terment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Buckskin. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Sat- urday at the funeral home.
