Roy L. York, 50, of 501 N. Cherry St., Huntingburg, was arrested by Pike Coun- ty Paul Collier at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Deputy Collier said he no- ticed a Ford truck driving south on Highway 57 with- out taillights on. He stopped the vehicle near CR 50 W. and found York was driving. While talking with York, Deputy Collier said he no- ticed York had rapid, slurred speech and was making rap- id irregular movements with his hands and fingers. Collier said York denied doing meth. However, he failed field sobriety tests. York's passenger, Kenneth Morrow, 40, of Washington, admitted during question- ing he had taken meth ear- lier in the day. York agreed to take a blood test. He was taken to the Daviess Community Hospital, where he tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, ac- cording to Collier's report. He was taken into cus- tody and preliminarily charged with operating a ve- hicle while intoxicated (con- trolled substance). Mid-States Corridor meetings set for Feb. 18-20 Three public meetings are sched- uled for February for the Mid-States Corridor Project, which examines the concept of an improved highway connection in southern Indiana. The meetings will provide an update on the Tier 1 environmental study un- derway. The Mid-States Corridor Regional Development Authority (RDA) and the Indiana Department of Transpor- tation (INDOT) are conducting a Ti- er 1 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which is required by the Na- tional Environmental Policy Act (NE- PA) for major construction projects that will include federal funding. The Mid-States Corridor is anticipated to begin at SR 66, near the William H. Natcher Bridge, crossing the Ohio River at Rockport, continuing gener- ally through the Huntingburg and Jas- per area, and extending north to con- nect to Interstate 69. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) is expected to be published this fall and will identify a preferred corridor. A Record of Deci- sion (ROD) is expected in summer 2021. The ROD is the Federal High- way Administration's final approval of the preferred corridor. A fter a Tier 1 ROD, a more detailed Tier 2 environmental study will de- termine specific alignments and pre- ferred alternatives within the select- ed Tier 1 corridor. Public meetings are planned for Loogootee, Bedford and Jasper for the following dates and locations: • Tuesday, Feb. 18: Loogootee High School, 201 Brooks Ave., Loo- gootee. • Wednesday, Feb. 19: Bedford Middle School, 1501 N St., Bedford. • Thursday, Feb. 20 : Jasper Mid- dle School, 3600 N. Portersville Rd., Jasper. The public meetings are scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. EST and will fea- ture an open house format. A pre- sentation is planned for 6 p.m. each night. Project team members will be at multiple stations to answer ques- tions and questionnaires will be avail- able to gather public input. The Screening Report will be post- ed on the project website, www.mid- statescorridor.com, in advance of the meetings.
