Recently, I was confront- ed with this question: If you fed yourself with food the way you feed yourself with God's Word, would you still be alive? It gave me pause. Do I eat enough spir- itually? Feast regularly enough on Scripture to keep up my energy and the health of my soul? Do I eat nutritiously? Take in a bal- anced meal of law and gos- pel, comfort and command- ments, prophecy and prom- ise? Do I pass up spiritual junk food? Set aside emp- ty calories that lead to dis- ease, in order to hunger for what truly gives life? Do I drink enough Living Water to avoid faith dehydration? And once in a while, do I splurge on dessert? Savor the sweetness and joy of belonging to God's table? Office hours: 9 a.m.- noon, Monday-Friday. Boyd Heldring, Pastor Amy Melhiser, Secre- tary OTWELL WESLEYAN CHURCH 2277 N. Mechanics Street Otwell Pastor 812-354-3028 Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; evening worship service 6:30 p.m. Nursery available. Tuesday morning women's Bible study at the fellowship hall 10 a.m. Follow your heart There are many calls to "follow your heart" in mov- ies, novels, slogans, blogs and memes. Related pieces of advice are "trust yourself" and "follow your instincts." A corollary dictum is "your heart will never lead you astray." The problem is that none of these quips are bib- lically supportable. Rather than trust our hearts, we are to commit our hearts to God: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own un- derstanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5 -6). We invite all of you to come and worship with us. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter See John, Pam, or Cindy to place your order today. Phone: 812- 354-8500 E-mail: ads@pressdispatch.net 1.
