Continued from page 1 SALEM Chargers basketball winless at North Daviess JV tourney By Dennis Marshall Press-Dispatch Sports Editor sports@pressdispatch.net The Pike Central junior varsity boys' basketball team closed out 2019 at the North Daviess JV Tournament on Mon- day, Dec. 30. The Chargers played well at times, but struggled to stay consistent and lost both of their games. "That's our biggest struggle right now," Pike Central JV coach Josh Roach said. "We go through stretch- es where we look really good, but we struggle to stick with that. At this lev- el, it is all about becoming consistent for the next level and doing the things that will help you succeed there. That is taking some kids out of their com- fort zone now to get them to where they need to be, and that's why it is hard for them to stay consistent. It is noth- ing that they are doing wrong, it is just building the habits to have sustained success." Pike Central lost 45 -26 to Orleans. Kendric Sorgius was the Chargers' only player to score in double digits. He finished with 11 and was followed by Shane Morson (5), Peyton Howald (5), Connor Young (3) and Ashton Ev- ans (2). North Daviess defeated Pike Cen- tral, 50 -22. Young led the team with nine points. Alex Clark had eight, Mor- son chipped in three and Peyton How- ald finished with two.
