The banquet will take place in the Bow- ers-Suhrheinirch Student Life Center, across from Dearing Hall, and will begin with a reception at noon, a banquet luncheon at 1 p.m. and the awards program at 2 p.m. There will also be an alum- ni meet and greet at 2 p.m. All alumni are invited to attend the Mighty Oaks game at 4 p.m. at a reduced admission of $5. The 2019 Class includes Hugh Schaefer (1966), Charlie Trafton (1967), Mil- ton Clayton (1971), Ron Ma- lin (1972) and Clint Weddle (2004). Lady Oaks defend home court By Dennis Marshall Press-Dispatch Sports Editor sports@pressdispatch.net The Oakland City La- dy Oaks picked up a pair of dominate wins this past weekend. OCU won 84-44 against Central Christian College of the Bible (4-7) on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Johnson Center. The Lady Oaks are now 4-1 in their last five games, after getting off to a rocky start. The team improved its over- all record to 6 -9 with the win. Reanna Kietlinski and McKendree Ward each scored 16 points to lead the way. Gibson Southern grad- uate Tabby Klem added 14, and Emma Lander and Ki- are Young each chipped in nine points. Laurin Bentley had game highs in rebounds (13) and steals (6). Other scorers for OCU were Pike Central graduate Hailey Marchino (7), Bent- ley (6), Malia Schmittler (6) and Xerena Tompkins (1). Lauren Mills led the Saints with 13. As a team, OCU shot 33-for-78 (42.3 percent) from the field, including 5 - of-19 (26.3 percent) from three point range. CCCB connected on 20 -of-65 (30.8 percent) of their shot attempts, making just 1-of- 20 (5.0 percent) from be- yond the arc. The Oaks went 13-for-18 (72.2 percent) from the foul line, compared to 3-of-8 (37.5 percent) for the visiting Saints. The Oaks held a 59 to 37 lead in rebounding, includ- ing a 21-10 edge on the of- fensive boards. OCU had 22 assists and 11 turnovers, while the Saints turned the ball over 16 times to go with seven assists. OCU also defeated CCCB, 85 -50, on Friday, Jan. 3. Young led all scorers with 18 points. She connected on 6 -of-14 shots from the field, including 3-8 from 3-point range. Klem scored 14 again; Kietinski added 12; Lander had 11; Ward finished with 10 ; Tompkins, Bentley and Schmittler each scored six; and Marchino scored two. Vanessa Oyola led the Saints in scoring, putting up 15 points, on 6 -24 shooting, going 3-21 from long range. Kasandra Lazcano was the only other CCCB player to reach double digits in the scoring column, posing 12 points, while Lauren Mills pulled down a game-best ten rebounds. As a team, OCU shot 31-for-70 (44.3 percent) from the field, including 7-of-of-18 (38.9 percent) from three point range. The Saints con- nected on 18 -of-59 (30.5 per- cent) of their shot attempts, making 9 -for-37 (24.3 per- cent) from distance. The Oaks were 16 -of-29 (55.2 percent) from the foul line, compared to 5 -of-8 (62.5 percent) for the visitors. Next up for the Lady Oaks will be another home match- up, their sixth straight, as they look to improve on their recent success. They will host Grace Christian Uni- versity on Saturday, Janu- ary 18, tipping off at 1 p.m. hopefully start showing more on the floor." The team will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 9, when they host Washington. They will also be on the road at Forest Park on Saturday, Jan. 11, and at Loogootee on Tuesday, Jan. 14. "Overall, we know what we need to work on," Knight said. "We will continue to work on the small things and get prepared to face Washington."
