Poplar Street, Petersburg The Pike Central Lady Chargers won their Triangle Meet with Washington and Barr Reeve, with six girls taking individu- al first place finishes. Alyssa Jenkins, Jay- lyn Nelson, Jenna Meyer, Libby Stone, Lau- ren Young and Kya Leighty all took firsts at Weathers Field this past Monday. Alyssa Jenkins was the clear winner in the shot put with a 29'7" toss. Erika Vinnedge placed fourth (27.4") and Ashton Catt was sixth (25'2"). Jaylyn Nelson won the high jump at 5"0", with Kya Leighty fourth (4'8") and Kya Sul- livan sixth (4'6"). Nelson took a second in the 100 dash (14.15) and Jade Kamman was third (14.22). Emma McKinney was second in the JV 100 (15.18) and Kya Sullivan was third (15.62). Libby Stone ran a 2:43.93 to first in the 800 -meter run and Charlotte Dudenhoef- fer was fourth in 2:58.03. Lauren Young was the easy winner in the 300 hurdles, taking first in 52.25. Morgan Anderson was third in 56.94. Kya Leighty clocked 5:49 in the 1600 and Morgan Sallee got a sixth in 7:27. Jenna Meyer won the pole vault at 7'6" and Bella Toman was third at 6'0". Jenkins was second in the discus at 92'9" and Erika Vinnedge was third (90'11"). Ash- ton Catt cleared 59'3" and Emma Quaken- bush was at 43'11". Quinlan Teague was second in the 3200 (15:56.71), with Laney Johnson third (15:55.34) and Morgan Sallee fourth (17:17.19). Jade Kamman took second in the 200 dash in 29.94 and Kya Leighty was third (30.56). Emma McKinney took first in the JV 200 and Kya Sullivan was third (33.18). Lauren Young finished second in the 100 hurdles in 17.88, with Morgan Ander- son fourth (19:63) and Addie Faulk sixth (20.66). Lily Willis was third in the 400, clocking 1:12.63, and teammates Lily Fred- erick-Rice and Bella Toman fourth and sixth (1:15.91, 1:21.28). The team of Teague, Meyer, Duden- hoeffer and Stone placed second in the 4x800 in 11:36.56, and the JV team of Wil- lis, Johnson, Cannon and Toman clocked 13:02.34. Young, Anderson, Kamman and Nelson were second in the 4x100 in 55.43 and Young, Meyer, Stone and Leighty com- bined for second with a time of 4:44.84 in the 4x400. Stone added a fifth in the long jump (13'3"), with Dudenhoeffer sixth (12'9.5" and Lily Frederick-Rice seventh (12'3.5"). Team result: Pike Central 73.5, Barr- Reeve 66.5, Washington 25. At No. 1 singles, Lady Chargers ju- nior Audrey Keepes defeated Lady Raiders junior Evie Sherer 6 -1, 6 -1. At No. 2 singles, Lady Chargers se- nior Meredith Benson defeated Lady Raiders freshman Olivia Durcholz 6 - 2, 6 -3. At No. 3 singles, Lady Chargers ju- nior Shelby Vaughn defeated Lady Raid- ers junior Elizabeth Fleck 6 -3, 6 -2., At No. 1 doubles, Lady Charger se- niors Kirsten Jansen and Grace Smith lost to the Lady Raiders' duo of junior Audra Hochesang and freshman Jordan Biehl 6 -1, 7-6. At No. 2 doubles, Lady Charger ju- niors Chloe Roy and Adair Kabrick de- feated the Lady Raiders' duo of junior Anna Kappner and sophomore Gabbie Warner 6 -1, 6 -0. In a junior varsity doubles match, La- dy Charger sophomores Kenley Beck and Zoey Davis won 1-6, 6 -1, 6 -4. In a junior varsity singles match, La- dy Chargers freshman Morgan Ice lost 6 -5, 6 -1. Pike Central, which traveled to Heri- tage Hills on Tuesday, April 23, will host Washington on Wednesday, April 24, and play at Gibson Southern on Thurs- day, April 25. Diamond men best Greene 12-2 A dozen hits and a dozen runs dis- pensed with Eastern Greene in five innings in a 12-2 road trip win last Wednesday. Race Britton struck out 10 and walked three, while throwing a two hitter. He accounted for one earned run and the three walks inside 88 pitches. He also helped his cause and the team with two of three hitting, scoring once in the shorted 10 -run rule contest. The Chargers scored one run in the first when Braxton Rice drove in Troy Rickard. The four-run second inning featured RBIs by Brennon Brenton and Eli Coleman. The Chargers extended their lead to 11-0 in the top of the fourth, but Eastern crossed the plate with two in the bottom of the fourth. Brennon Benton was one of three with three RBIs, including a fourth-in- ning homerun. Eli Coleman was two of two, with a couple RBIs, one walk and one run. Troy Rickard, Joey Church and Braxton Rice each had two hits, while Church, Kyle Williams and Coleman had two RBIs each. Coleman punched a triple, and he, Church and Rickard doubled. Britton, Draven Duff and Kyle Williams had successful steals. Rickard, Church, Rice, Britton and Coleman each contributed two hits, and Rickard and O'Neal each scored twice. The Chargers made just one fielding error while Eastern Greene had four. Jackson Scott stepped in for Padgett in relief after just one and a third in- nings, allowing eight unearned runs, eight hits, one homerun off Benton and two walks. Padgett gave up three hits, four runs and one earned run. Krieg threw the shot put 41'10.5" and teammate Remington Gideon was fifth, taping 34'9.5". Krieg also placed third in the discus with a a distance of 102'7". See WIN on 2 A bottom of the fifth run proved to be the game stopper in Thursday's 11-1, 10 -run rule win over the visiting Princeton Community School Lady Tigers. The Tigers managed one run in the second and then threat- ened in the fifth, but were con- tained by the defense and a strikeout by Brynn Hillyard. They then witnessed Kenzie Powell score the game-ending run when Hannah Carnahan hit a grounder into center for her third hit and fourth RBI of the contest. Hillyard pitched a four-hitter, allowing one earned run, while walking two. Hillyard was three up and three down for the Tigers in the first, but her counterpart stepped down after a 10 -run opening inning barrage. Thirteen batters were faced in that first inning and 10 crossed the plate before the Lady Tiger defense managed a third out. The Lady Chargers played er- ror-free ball on the defensive end and notched 15 hits, with 10 RBIs resulting in 11 runs for the game. Carnahan was a big part of rocking the Tigers through- out the night, but five others had two hits apiece, including Ken- zie Powell with a pair of dou- bles, three scores and one RBI. Lauren Vaughn, Powell, Emily Carnahan, Mallory Hickey and Karsyn Pipes each had two hits and Vaughn had two RBIs. Pow- ell, Carnahan, Hickey and Pipes also had one RBI each.
