A-8 Local Wednesday, April 24, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Community Foundation announces scholarship recipients SCHAFER COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Rebecca Crow, the recipi- ent of the Schafer Communi- ty Foundation Scholarship, is the daughter of Tim and Christy Crow, of Winslow. Rebecca plans to attend the University of Evansville and study athletic training in pursuit of a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. During her years at Pike Central High School, she has been involved with Na- tional Honor Society, Stu- dent Government and Key Club. She has also played volleyball and basketball throughout high school. WINSLOW HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP Emily Carnahan, the daughter of Dan and Amy Carnahan, of Winslow, is the recipient of the Winslow High School Alumni Associ- ation Scholarship. Emily will attend the Uni- versity of Southern Indiana, where she plans to major in accounting. As a high school student, she has participated in Na- tional Honor Society, Key Club, softball and basket- ball. PIKE CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP Katherine Spalding, daughter of Bernard and Starla Spalding, of Peters- burg, is the recipient of the Pike Central High School Scholarship. Katherine will attend Butler University, where she will pursue a degree in pharmacy. She has been involved in Key Club, National Honor Society and Research with Memorial Hospital. She has also participated in the ten- nis program. OTWELL SCHOOL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP Andrew Krieg, the son of Scott and Keena Krieg, and the late Angela Krieg, is the recipient of the Otwell School Alumni Scholarship. Andrew intends to pursue a degree in biology on his way to becoming a dentist. During his high school ca- reer, he participated in Na- tional Honor Society and Key Club. He has been on the track team all four years of high school and partici- pated in basketball. MARION AND MARTHA KLIPSCH SCHOLARSHIP Kirsten Jansen, the daughter of Paul and Eliza- beth Jansen, is the recipient of the Marion and Martha Klipsch Scholarship. Kirsten intends to pursue a career in business man- agement. She will attend Vincennes University. During high school, she has participated in Nation- al Honor Society, Key Club and German Club. She has played tennis throughout her high school career. DR. AND MRS. WILLIAM WEATHERS-BETTY WYATT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Kelsey Barrett, the recip- ient of the Weathers-Wyatt Memorial Scholarship, is the daughter of Jackie and Marjorie Barrett, of Win- slow. Kelsey will attend Oak- land City University and ma- jor in biology. She has participated in National Honor Society, FCA, soccer, basketball and softball throughout her high school career. WINSLOW EAGLES SCHOLARSHIP Hannah Carnahan, daughter of Dan and Amy Carnahan, of Winslow, is the recipient of the Winslow Ea- gles Scholarship. Hannah will attend the University of Southern In- diana and study to become a nurse. During her high school years, she was involved in National Honor Society, and Key Club. She also par- ticipated in softball and bas- ketball throughout her high school career. PIKE OPTIMISTS/ LAWRELL HILGEMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Natalie Bohnert, daugh- ter of Michael and Beth Bohnert, is the recipient of the Pike Optimists/Lawrell Hilgeman Memorial Schol- arship. Natalie will attend South- west Minnesota State Uni- versity, where she will study elementary education. During her high school career, she was active in Stu- dent Government and Na- tional Honor Society. She al- so participated in golf, ten- nis and swimming through- out her four years. DESSIE MAE BRUCE GRIFFITH SCHOLARSHIP Courtney Fair, daughter of Damon and Kim Fair, of Petersburg, is the recipient of the Dessie Mae Bruce Griffith Scholarship. Courtney will attend Vin- cennes University as a nurs- ing major, ultimately becom- ing a trauma/emergency room nurse. During her time at Pike Central High School, she has been involved with Na- tional Honor Society, Stu- dent Government and is a member of swing choir. VINSON FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP Jed Evans, son of Eric and Tracy Evans, of Velpen, is the recipient of the Vinson Family Scholarship. Jed will attend Vincennes University Jasper Campus. He plans to major in Com- puter Programming/Game Development. During his high school years, Jed has been involved in basketball, golf, tennis and swing choir. PETERSBURG HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1959 Joshua Brandle, the son of John and Nancy Brandle, of Stendal, is the recipient of the Petersburg High School Class of 1959 Scholarship. Josh will begin a pre-law course of study and plans to become an attorney. He will attend Indiana State Univer- sity. He participated in BPA, National Honor Society, Swing Choir and Spanish Club during his high school career. PIKE COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP Hallee Stephens, daugh- ter of Mitch and Leann Ste- phens, of Huntingburg, is the recipient of the Pike County Chamber of Com- merce Scholarship. Hallee plans to attend Vin- cennes University and study anatomy on her way to be- coming a nurse. She participated in Na- tional Honor Society and Key Club during her high school career. She has been a cheerleader throughout high school, and participat- ed in swimming and diving for three years. MONTES/FENOL SCHOLARSHIP Elijah Coleman, son of Ryan and Misty Coleman, of Winslow, is the recipient of the Montes/Fenol Schol- arship. Elijah plans to attend Vin- cennes University majoring in agriculture. He has been a Peer Tu- tor, and has played football and baseball during his high school career. DARWIN AND GRACE YOUNGS SCHOLARSHIP Kylee Shoultz, the daugh- ter of Michael and Misty Bell, and the late Griffin Shoultz, is the recipient of the Darwin and Grace Youngs Scholarship. Kylee plans to attend the University of Southern In- diana and major in exercise science to become an occu- pational therapist. During her high school years, she has participated in Student Government, Key Club and National Honor So- ciety. She also played volley- ball for Pike Central. FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Connor Gaines, son of Ste- ven Gaines and Dawn Bies- terveld, both of Petersburg, is the recipient of the Peters- burg First United Methodist Church Scholarship. Connor plans to attend Western Kentucky Univer- sity to study nursing and be- come a nurse practitioner. He has participated in National Honor Society and Student Government, among other things. He al- so played soccer throughout his high school career. HARRELL AND LAVERN SHOULTZ SCHOLARSHIP Austin Holder, son of Ver- yl and Lisa Holder, of Otwell, is the recipient of the Harrell and LaVern Shoultz Scholar- ship. Austin will attend Vin- cennes University Jasper Campus. He will major in agriculture and plans to be- come an Agronomist. He participated in soccer, basketball and golf through- out his high school career. PIKE CENTRAL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP Faith Edwards, recipient of the Pike Central Alumni Scholarship, is the daughter of Kevin and Vicki Edwards, of Petersburg. She will attend the Uni- versity of Southern Indiana, where she will study Diag- nostic Medical Sonography. Faith has been involved in National Honor Society and Key Club, among other ac- tivities. She has volunteered at Paws and worked at the Buffalo Trace Festival. MARY F. CURTIS SCHOLARSHIP Alyssa Jenkins, recipient of the Mary F. Curtis Schol- arship, is the daughter of Keith Jr. and Jamie Jenkins, of Winslow. Alyssa will study nursing at the University of Evans- ville. While attending Pike Central, she was involved in FCA, Key Club, Spanish Club and National Honor So- ciety. Throughout her high school career, she participat- ed in volleyball, track, Swing Choir and Academic Team. KEMP FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP Magdalyn McDonald, re- cipient of the Kemp Family Scholarship, is the daugh- ter of Darrin and Amber Mc- Donald, of Petersburg. Magdalyn will attend Indi- ana State University, where she plans to become a psy- chologist. She has participated in National Honor Society, FCA and Key Club during high school. She has also been active in band and mu- sical productions through- out her high school career. PETERSBURG HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP Erin Craig, daughter of Ja- son and Jeanine Craig, of Pe- tersburg, is the recipient of the Petersburg High School Alumni Scholarship. Erin plans to attend Vin- cennes University and work on a degree in nursing. She has been involved in Key Club, Student Govern- ment, Swing Choir and FCA. She has also participated in cross country and track. LILLY ENDOWMENT COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP Kyle Williams, son of Chet and Angie Williams, of Pe- tersburg, is the recipient of the Lilly Endowment Com- munity Scholarship. Kyle has made the deci- sion to attend Indiana Uni- versity, with the goal of be- coming a surgeon.
