Do you have a pond that is in need of some care? Are you looking to learn more about your pond as a whole? Do you have unidentified weeds in your pond? The Pike County Exten- sion office will be hosting a Pond Management Work- shop on April 29 from 6 -8 p.m. EDT at Hornady Park. The workshop will take place at shelter house 3, lo- cated next to the lake. If in- clement weather, the work- shop will still take place in the 4-H Building. The workshop will cov- er pond chemicals, pond applications, aquatic veg- etation management with guest speaker Jarred Keller, aquatic control, and also fish stocking rates, pond wildlife management, aeration sys- tems and more. There will be a weed iden- tification portion during the workshop. If you have any weeds in your pond that you would like to have iden- tified, bring them along to the workshop. State Road 356, Petersburg, IN 47567. Birthdays Shoultz retires from Pike- Gibson Water after 47 years Pike-Gibson Water, Inc. had its annual meeting on Monday, April 15. After 47 years of service, board member Jim Shoultz made the decision to retire and enjoy the accomplishments he and oth- ers worked many hours to help build to serve their communities and those surrounding it. He stat- ed "only a handful of people were able to help start the funding of the system" and now PGW serves 3400 customers in Gibson, Pike and part of Warrick counties. He served in District 1, which serves those customers living in the Oatsville and Glezen communities. PGW is happy to announce Raymond Mills will now serve District 1. Hallett joins Mortgage Co. of Southern Indiana The Mortgage Company of Southern Indiana, Inc. welcomes a new Mortgage Loan Originator, Shanna Hallett. Hallett is a graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor's in Marketing. She received her MBA in Fi- nance from the University of Indianapolis. She currently resides in Velpen with her husband, two children and family dog. Hallett started her career as a mortgage professional at Wells Fargo Financial as branch manager, additional- ly, she served as an Invest- ment Banker for Fifth Third Bank. "My goal is to assist my clients in obtaining the best mortgage loan while also providing quality cred- it and financial education," said Hallett. She currently serves as a board member for United Way of Pike County, partic- ipates in annual Day of Car- ing, and volunteered with Petersburg Little League for the past six years as a board member and coach. Hallett is also currently a participant in the Pike Lead- ership Program, a popcorn fundraising director for Boy Scouts Pack #130, and volun- teers for Ireland Elementa- ry School. Shanna Hallett No injuries in Saturday crash No injuries were report- ed in a one-vehicle accident on Saturday, near Coomer Lane, on SR 364, according to a report by Pike County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Buck Seger. Randy E. Anders, of 404 W. Walnut, Winslow, drove off the roadway and hit a guard rail, doing dam- age to the passenger side of a 2001 Dodge Caravan. The accident occurred about 12:30 a.m. on Satur- day, April 20.
