She was born on May 12, 1928, in Wheeling, Ind., to Orbin "Candy" Whitehouse and Alice Belcher White- house Burns. She had worked at the Brush Factory in Princeton. She is survived by her husband, John Frederick Crooks, whom she married on May 12, 1948; her daugh- ter, Freddie Lynnette Roach, of Princeton; sons, Stephen Guy (Gina) Crooks, of Flor- ida, Thomas Lee (Terry) Crooks, of Oakland City, Jeffery Eugene Crooks, of Spurgeon, Douglas Edward (Mary) Crooks, of Bloom- ington, and Kenneth Wayne ( Jessica) Crooks, of Evans- ville; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchil- dren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pa- tricia Butcher, and grand- daughter, Jennifer M. Da- vis Riley. Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at the Lamb-Basham Memo- rial Chapel, with Dr. Doug- las Low officiating. Burial followed in Blackfoot Cem- etery near Coe. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until services on Saturday at the chapel. Memorial con- tributions may be given in memory of Virginia to Gib- son County Relay for Life. Dill, Sr., 65, fin- ished his brave battle with cancer on November 24, 2018. He was born to Tom and Hazel Dill, of Princeton, on November 8, 1953, and mar- ried Janet Perry on Decem- ber 12, 1971. He lived a true life and was never fake to anyone. He worked for the City of Princeton for 30 + yrs. He al- so worked for Jerry and Lo- gan Parker for several years, who helped him through ma- ny tough times. He was a car enthusiast who had cars throughout his lifetime that many peo- ple would love to have. But his greatest pride and joy were his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Janet, of 47 years; his moth- er, Hazel; three sons, Ronnie Jr., Randy (Kristi) and Elvis; five grandsons, Austin, An- drew, Alek, Adam and Riv- er; and seven siblings, Lin- da, Tommy, Wayne, LaVon- da, Claudia, Marty and Rod- ney. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom; and two infant siblings, Burtis and Tina. His family would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, prayers and visits while he fought his battle. And a special thank you to his brothers and sis- ters that never left his side. We appreciate what you've done more than you will ev- er know. Per his request, there will be no services. There will be a private celebration of life at a later date. The family has entrusted Pierre Funer- al Home for personal assis- tance. In lieu of flowers, dona- tions may be made to St. Ju- de Children's Hospital. LONNIE R. RUSHER Lonnie R. Rusher, 76, of Oakland City, entered rest on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton. He was born on Sept. 9, 1942, in Linton, to Ralph and Ima Jean (Goad) Rusher. He graduated from high school in Sparta, S.C., and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. A fter leaving the service, he lived and worked in Long Island, N.Y., before returning to Indiana. He worked at Old Ben Coal Company #1, as dozer op- erator, mechanic and vari- ous jobs. He served as pres- ident of Local 5179 of UM- WA, as well as being a union organizer for International UMWA. He attended Oakland City University and graduated with an associate degree in Heating and Air. He was a 37-year member of Oak- land City American Legion Post # 256 and NR A. He was a member of Blessed Sacra- ment Catholic Church. He loved to fish and deer hunt, but has been unable to for several years due to health reasons. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Kirk) Rusher; daugh- ters, Julie (Ron) Morgan, of Princeton, Laura ( Jeff ) Lanz, of Albany, Ore., and Mary Ann (Keith) Hon - eyman, of Lebanon, Ore.; grandchildren, Caleb, Mat- thew and Josh Morgan, of Princeton, Sydney, Lauryn and Emily Lanz, of Albany, Ore., and Amanda and Ka- ity Primasing, of Lebanon, Ore.; one great-grandson, Jackson, of Lebanon, Ore.; and several nieces and neph- ews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Lonnie Jr. and James David; a brother, Edwin; and ex- tended family. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Blessed Sacrament Catho - lic Church, with Fr. Frank Renner officiating. Burial will follow in Fair- view Cemetery near Fran- cisco. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel. Family and friends may send messages of com- fort to www.lambbasham. com. DONALD "DON" L. ELLIS Donald "Don" L. Ellis, 85, of Washington, passed away at on Monday, November 19, 2018, in Washington. He was born on May 23, 1933, in Burn City, Ind., to Orlief F. and Julia (Tittle) Ellis. He graduated from Odon High School in 1951. He was a retired U.S. Army Veter- an, serving in the Vietnam War, and later had worked at Greenwood Hardware for over twenty years. He was a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Sweeney) El- lis, whom he married May 29, 1960 ; son, Terry (Tere- sa) Ellis, of Washington; daughter, Martha (Keith) Wampler, of Bicknell; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bar- bara Kester, Leota Ellis and Martha Sue Ellis; and broth- er, John Ellis. A graveside service was at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, No- vember 24, 2018, at Sugar- land Memory Garden. Mil- itary Graveside rites were conducted by the Washing- ton American Legion and VFW. K ATHLEEN TATE Kathleen Tate, 67, passed away Nov. 21, 2018, in Pe- tersburg. She was born in St. Louis, Mo., to Toby and Rowena Ev- ans Tate on March 7, 1951. She is survived by her close friends and cousins, Roger Willis, Juanita Rich- ardson, Jenita Horton, Wes- ley T. Willis, Mary Willis and many others. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandpar- ents, Lawrence and Mae Willis Evans; cousin, Wes- ley Willis; and many aunts and uncles. Services were at 10 :30 a.m. EST on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Harris Funeral Home was entrusted with her care. THERESA C. LIT TRELL Theresa C. Littrell, 63, of Petersburg, formerly of Jasper, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at her home. She was born in Celestine on October 12, 1955, to Alois and Mary (Kupper) Schnei- der. She married Ricky A. Littrell, and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2011. She is survived by her son, Robert Gunn, of Pe- tersburg; three daughters, Tina Blessinger, of Winslow, Tonya Gunn, of Jasper, and Michelle Littrell, of Peters- burg; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Ann (David) Bachman, of Ireland, Dor- othy (George) Kimmel, of Dubois, Frances ( Jeff ) Pru- dy, of Newburgh, and Helen (Roger) Hagaman, of Derby; half-sister, Carla Howell, of Boonville; and half-brother, Carl Goller, Jr., of Bedford. Preceding her in death are one grandchild; and two brothers, Lee Joe Schneider and John Schneider. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Novem- ber 30, 2018, at Jasper Enlow City Cemetery. Condolences may be made at www.becher- kluesner.com. LOLA MAE BROWN Lola Mae Brown, 78, of Oakland City, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. She was born April 3, 1940, in Memphis, Tenn., to Floyd and Frances (Bushart) Hilliard. She had lived in Oakland City for 37 years after mov- ing from Memphis. She had worked as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, and previously at St. Mary's and Wirth Hospi- tal. She enjoyed collecting dolls, being with her dogs and cats, her grandchildren and going out for lunch. She is survived by her children, Elaine (Alan) Haney (Alan), of Coryd- on, and Carol (Barry) Rich- ardson, of Oakland City; three grandchildren, Matt Richardson, Jason Bran- don and Leslie Price; eight great-grandchildren, Am- ber, Arial, Darian, Payton, Aubree, Addy, Jace and Ow- en; four great-great-grand- children; and two sisters, Martha Stephens and Jew- el Donaldson, both of Mem- phis, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her hus- band, Everett Brown, in 2007. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Novem- ber 29, 2018, at Corn-Col- vin Funeral Home in Oak- land City.
