A-8 Local Wednesday, October 31, 2018 The Press-Dispatch JUDY'S QUALIFIED WITH DRIVE In the years that I have been acquainted with Judy Gumbel, I have found her to have more energy and attention to detail than any one person has a right to possess, and use that energy to finish the task at hand, be it carefully setting a budget for a local non-profit or 4H group, or organizing a community event. I personally know her to be a Pike County booster and a successful grant writer, winning money to be invested back into the area. When encountering a problem, she tackles it head on, using her ana- lytical and people skills, persistently working until it is solved. She is a multi-tasker's multi-tasker, keeping several jobs going at once and on schedule with no frayed or loose ends. In short, Pike County would be lucky to get someone with her qualifi- cations and drive. Ken Meyer –President of Pike County Farm Bureau JUDY IS INTELLIGENT, HARD WORKING AND HAS A GREAT ATTITUDE What I know about Judy Gumbel: She's very intelligent – the County Auditor's office doesn't require you to have a degree in rocket science. However, good problem solving, learning and teaching abilities are a definite must. Judy has all of these qualities. She's not a quitter — when she's unsure of something, she researches until she finds the answer and gets it right. She's a hard worker — I've seen her in action, she's on the ball all the time! She's a super sweet person — the kind of person that's a joy to be around and easy to work with. Judy Gumbel is my choice for Pike County Auditor! I hope she's your choice too! Marta Query – Pike County Treasurer SHE CONTINUES TO SHAPE PIKE COUNTY'S YOUTH AND COMMUNITY As a young man, I worked for the Pike County Extension Agent Bill Robinson for two summers. At that time, Judy was a young lady who was very active as 4-H member. As an adult, she is now very active in 4-H leadership. I have been a board member of the Pike County Farm Bureau for more than 20 years and in 2017 Judy was elected President of the Board. She did an excellent job as President. She presided over our annual meeting and did a very professional job. It was one of the most interesting annu- al meetings I had attended. Judy has had a lot of experience as a teacher and as an administrator. She is well qualified to do the job as Auditor. Hugh Eskew – Farm Bureau Board Member PASSION FOR HER COMMUNITY Judy Gumbel not only displays a passion for her community, but she also shows it through her hard work and positive attitude. She is perfect for the position of Pike County Auditor, and I know she will do what it takes to be completely successful. She has my vote! Trisha Nalley – Winslow THE CLEAR CHOICE FOR AUDITOR Judy Gumbel is our choice for Pike County Auditor. I know Judy's work ethic first-hand by serving in several organizations with her and know- ing her for more than 40 years. She is a marvel and works tirelessly for Pike County. She has our complete confidence in both her auditing and communication skills. She is always willing to help Pike County succeed and that is exactly what we need. Judy is the clear choice for Auditor. Matt and Kara Willis – Winslow RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB When I found out Judy Gumbel was running for Auditor, I knew she was the right person for this job. I have known Judy for several years, beginning with her being my excellent high school math teacher. Aer I graduated from college, I was very proud to become a colleague of hers in education. Judy had structure, organization and competency in everything she did, and still does today. I encourage voters to select highly qualified Judy Gumbel as their next Pike County Auditor! Suzanne Warner – Petersburg THE REASON I'M VOTING FOR JUDY I've been friends with Judy since the first grade. She is a person that gives 110 percent in whatever she does. She loves Pike County and wants to see it grow. She wants to see the young people be able to have a career here. Since she moved back to Pike County, she is active on several commit- tees and has made a difference. I know in my heart that Judy will do her best as Pike County Auditor. Kathy Harker – Cato Community SHE'LL HELP THE COUNTY MAKE GOOD DECISIONS FOR THE FUTURE I've known Judy Gumbel (Judy Wood) for more than 50 years. I know her to be a person of integrity with conservative values. She taught at Otwell High School, along with Winslow and Petersburg High Schools. She taught at Pike Central. She is a strong supporter of quality education. She raised her family in the area. She owns farm ground. She understands the importance of sustaining the rural econo- my. She is no stranger to hard work. She has developed and followed large budgets for companies such as GE Plastics. She is organized and understands the importance of meeting deadlines. She prefers to be a team player but can stand alone when necessary. She understands that the county offices must work in harmony if the work of the county government gets done. She loves Pike County and will be ready with information needed by the County Commissioners and County Council to enable them to make good decisions for the future of Pike County. Debby Pasley photo By Andy Heuring A Hazleton man who was arrested in late September for killing and burning his ex-girlfriend's dogs remains in jail on a $ 350,000 bond. On Monday, Pike Circuit Court Judge Jeff Biesterveld ruled Jordan Hunt's bond would remain $ 350,000 on the charges of intimidation, a Level 5 felony; domestic vi- olence, animal cruelty and killing a domestic animal, all Level 6 felonies. Hunt, 28, was arrested on Wednesday, September 26 by Indiana State Police. He is accused of stealing his ex- girlfriend's dogs, a golden doodle and pitbull-lab mix, from her apartment on Tues- day, September 25 and then shooting and burning the dogs on the next day. Hunt had requested his bond be reduced, claiming the $ 350,000 bond was ex- cessive for Level 5 and 6 fel- onies. "It is an excessive bond, but it was an excessive crime," argued Pike Coun- ty Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Christianson. Hunt remains in the Pike County Jail. He also fac- es a level 4 felony burglary charge in the same inci- dent in Vanderburgh Coun- ty, which is the location of his ex-girlfriend's apart- ment from where the dogs were taken. Hunt denied bond reduction Life Milestones made free CALL: 812-354-8500 Put a free photo with write up on Weddings, Anniversaries & Engagements.
