C-2 Church Wednesday, October 31, 2018 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued from page 1 SOMETHING NEWSWORTHY? Give us a call: 812-354-8500 It's a pirate's life me savvy. Happy Halloween. This week, PAWS is featuring a handsome young feline name Rip, who has only lived at PAWS a short time, but his charismatic person - ality has already won over Nola and other vol- unteers. He is a very large cat, has plush, gray fur that is velvety soft, four white paws and long white whiskers that add to his endearing ap- pearance. He was sur- rendered by his owner who was allergic to cats and needless to say was heartbroken to give this big boy up. Rip has all his shots, is neutered, front declawed and is anxious- ly awaiting a new home to share his love and funny cat antics. To adopt Rip, call 812- 354-9894. Nowhere has God prom- ised anyone, even His chil- dren, immunity from sor- row, suffering and pain. The world is a "vale of tears," and disappointment and heart- ache are as inevitable as clouds and shadows. Suffering is often the cru- cible in which our faith is tested. Those who success- fully come through the "fur- nace of affliction" are the ones who emerge "like gold tried in the fire." The Bible teaches un- mistakably that we can tri- umph over bereavement. The psalmist said: "Weep- ing may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morn- ing" (Psalm 30 :5). Self pity can bring no en- during comfort. The fact is, it will only add to our mis- ery. Unremitting grief will give us a little consolation in itself, for grief begets grief. Ceaseless grieving will only magnify our sor- row. We should not peddle our sorrows and bewail our bad fortune, that will only depress others. Sorrow, or mourning, when it is borne in a Christian way, contains a built-in comfort. "Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted" (Mat- thew 5:4). There is comfort in mourning because we know that Christ is with us. He has said:Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20). Suffering is endurable if we do not have to bear it alone; and the more compassionate the Presence, the less acute the pain. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your presence will be greatly ap- preciated and I am sure you will receive God blessings. May God bless each and ev- eryone. Forgiveness In the Lord's prayer and following it are repeated statements about forgive- ness. Jesus said, "And for- give us our debts, as we forgive our debtors" (Mat- thew 6:12). Following the prayer Je- sus said, "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, But if ye for- give not men their tres- passes, neither will your Father forgive your tres- passes" (Matthew 6:14-15). Living Belief For we live by believing and not by seeing (2 Corinthians 5:7, NLT). This scripture stands as a reminder that even though we can not see God, he walks with us every step of our jour- ney in life. In this world, the most common belief is that if you can not see it, then it is not real. Question. Can you phys- ically see an apology or sin- cerity in the words of others? Think about that. Sometimes believing is not just seeing but feeling and understand- ing, but not always are they in that order. Begin with faith and un- derstanding that God is with you and ordering your steps for your better. Then be- lieve that he is the saviour and cares about you and oth- ers through you. Before long, without realizing, it won't just be belief with no physical re- action. People will begin to see the changes that God has made in your life and the way he has bettered all your en- deavours. At this moment, you then are living belief and GOSPEL CENTER CHURCH Independent Baptist Church 420 E.
