The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, October 17, 2018 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued from page 2 Our sermon lesson was about heaven and what is re- quired to become a heir and an adopted child so the in- heritance of heaven can be had. Heaven can't even be imagined by us and how beautiful heaven will be. We cannot even think how peaceful heaven will be. It is promised our tears will be wiped away and sorrows will be gone forever. There is a responsibili- ty for we mortals to achieve and that is we must become children of God. First and foremost you must want to go to heaven and this doesn't mean immediately but when you pass from one existence to another. You must hear the word of God and seek forgiveness for your sins and this includes accepting that you are forgiven and grant- ed grace from God. Now you profess with openness that Jesus is your Saviour and then allow Him to mold you into what He needs you to be and the person you want to be. It is promised by a Faithful Father that you are truly a child of God and due a home in heaven. Please don't wait too long. Okay let's get out there and be a blessing and reap all the blessings you can. GOSPEL CENTER CHURCH Independent Baptist Church 420 E. A certain steamship line used the slogan, "Getting there is half the fun." What they were saying is that while the destination may be wonderful, the trip to reach it should also be enjoyable. We've all made some trips that were dull and boring or very difficult and tiring, just to reach the final desti- nation, which proved to be a delightful vacation spot. However, while the desti- nation of Heaven is wonder- ful and glorious, the journey to reach it should be equal- ly as wonderful as we enjoy the day by day blessings of victory over the power of sin, and enjoy the leadership and direction of God in our lives. Truly, getting there is half the fun. This is why the Psalmist says, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord." The word "fun" may not be the best word to describe the Christian experience, for it comes from a root form that means trickery or deceit. The world seeks "fun" and this is a part of Satan's strat- egy to deceive. How differ- ent from the real satisfaction and solid enjoyment we ex- perience when we walk with God. Real peace and happi- ness, and blessings will ac- company us and sustain us as we are careful to walk in the way that God has out- lined for us. God's way is truly the best way—Irving D. Larson. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. Theme Statement: The prophet of God explains the reason for the present eco- nomic problems in the na- tion is because the people of God are not giving their tithes and offerings to the Temple. God gives us a gra- cious call to return to His Word. Our response is to trust God to provide for our needs. There are 3 ways that we are to bring our tithes and of- ferings to God. 1. Bring the whole tithe. 2. Bring it as the first thing. 3. Bring it in faith-believ- ing. Leon Pomeroy, Pastor Methodist LIVING BY GR ACE 511 S. Well, to me, it's God's Spirit working on the inside of my soul, that ev- er propels me toward heav- en anf keeps alive the joys of life that otherwise would fade and die because of what we face everyday. It saddens me so deeply to hear anyone say, "I have no hope," or "my hope is gone." The sacrifice of Jesus on His cross is in place, so that hope is always available. He said, "Whosoever will, let him come and drink of the water of life freely." Whosoever will is every- one! There is no excuse for los- ing hope, not having hope, abandoning hope or giving up. All that is needed is to lay down your pride and come to Him, and He will never dis- appoint. Please remember, the Bi- ble says, "Christ in you, the hope of glory." Jesus is very near, and waiting to hear from you.
