Shelby (Chip) Robling, Jr., 49, passed away October 4, 2018, at IU Methodist Hos- pital in Indianapolis. He was born July 4, 1969, in Princeton. He was a member of Ea- gles 2646. He had worked most of his life building pole barns and roofing, recently working in Vincennes for the city. He is survived by his mother, Nellie Shoultz; brother, Michael Robling; and sisters, Edra Cannon and Mary Meadows; 13 nieces and nephews; and his dog, Tuffy. He was preceded in death by his father, Shel- by Robling; and brothers, Vince and Jason Robling. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. DARWIN JOHNSON "JOHN" THOMAS III Darwin Johnson "John" Thomas III, 70, of Ghent, died on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at his home. He was born on Decem- ber 24, 1947, in Shelby Coun- ty, the son of the late Darwin Johnson Thomas, Jr. and An- na Marie Donovan Thomas, of Taylorsville. He had served his coun- try in the United States Ar- my from 1969 -1971, during the Vietnam era, obtaining the rank of sergeant. He lat- er went on to work in pub- lic education for most of his life, having most recently served as superintendent of North Harrison, Ind., School System. He had previously worked for the Switzerland County School Corporation in Vevay, Ind., serving as the principal and superinten- dent of the Cannelton City Schools in Cannelton, the Pike County Schools in Pe- tersburg, and the North Har- rison Community Schools in Ramsey, Ind. He was a member of the Ghent Bap- tist Church. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Scott Thom- as, of Ghent; mother, Anna Marie Donovan Thomas, of Taylorsville; son, John Ash- ley Thomas, of Taylor Mill; daughters, Leah Michelle Thomas, of Petersburg, Va., and Elizabeth Marie Thom- as, of Lexington; brother, Ronald Thomas, of Taylors- ville; sisters, Sandy Jewell and Penny Edwards, both of Taylorsville; and four grand- children. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral Services were at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018, at the Ghent Baptist Church, with Rev. Graham Reynolds officiating. Visitation was from 5 -8 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Tandy-Eckler-Ri- ley Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Burial took place in the Ghent Ma- sonic Cemetery. ROBERT DENTON Robert Denton passed away October 9, 2018, at the Community South hospital, with his family by his side. He is a graduate of Winslow High School, Class of 1967. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Bob; daugh- ter, Natalie; brothers, Don- ald, of Oakland City, John, of St. Charles, Mo., Charlie, of Jasper, Willie, of Oakland City, and Jeff, of Mt. Vernon; sisters, Judy, of Lynnville, Tenn., Janice, of Petersburg, and Debbie, of Ft. Branch; and three grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Frances (Nalley) Denton; brother, George; and sister, Sue Rutka. Services will be from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Hoosier Har- vest Church, from 2-5 p.m. in Martinsville. ARVIN J. SELLERS Arvin J. Sellers, 79, of Loogootee, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Monday, Octo- ber 15, 2018, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Evansville on March 7, 1939, to Paul D. and Madeline (Apler) Sell- ers. He married Ruth Ann Braun on January 29, 1965, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Montgomery. He served in the Indiana National Guard and retired from Construction Local Union #561, Evansville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, and a former member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Whitfield and the National Plott Hound Association for over 50 years. He was an av- id bear and coon hunter. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann Sellers; daughter, Christina ( James) Hawkins, of Hawesville, Ky.; three sons, John Lincoln Sellers, of Loogootee, Scott Alan Sellers, of Columbus, and Kelly Sellers, Cannelburg; grandchildren, Audry, Dan- ielle, Briar, Graci and Molli, Willis and Mary; two broth- ers, John (Beverly) Sell- ers, of Columbus, and Mike (Kathy) Sellers, of Indianap- olis; sisters, Paulette (Ray) Quinn, of Martinsville, and Judeanne Wilson, of San- ta Clara, Calif.; and sever- al step-brothers and sisters. She was born on April 24, 1949, in Vincennes, the daughter of Bert and Violet Mae (Milligan) Shelton. She was of the Lutheran faith. She loved her family very much, and also loved gardening and her animals. Survivors include her sons, Dave (Rachael) Fred- erick, of Vincennes, and Robert C. (Holli) Freder- ick, of Texas; brothers, Dennis Shelton, of Decker, Gary Shelton, of Petersburg, and Bert Shelton, Jr., of Vin- cennes; sister Brenda Lan- man, of Allendale, Ill.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oc- tober 13, 2018, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Interment followed the service. K AY SCHWINGHAMER Kay Schwinghamer, 67, of Holland, passed away at 12:55 p.m. on Friday, Octo- ber 12, 2018, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. She was born January 30, 1951, in Huntingburg, to Raymond and Arla (Egbert) Meyer; and married Mark Alan Schwinghamer on No- vember 25, 1977, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. She was a homemaker and teacher's aide, a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, enjoyed reading and bird watching and was a St. Louis Cardinals base- ball fan. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in- law, Melissa Schwinghamer, of Holland, Amanda (Adam) Johnson, of Indianapolis, and Lauren ( Johnny) Hayes, of Otwell; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Alan Schwinghamer, who died January 8, 2015; her par- ents; one brother, Ray Allan Meyer; and one sister, Patri- cia Kuntz. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. EDT. on Tuesday, Oc- tober 16, 2018, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, with Pastor David Darling officiating. Long, 77, of Evansville, formerly of Oakland City, entered rest on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Deaconess Gateway Hospi- tal in Newburgh. He was born on Oct. 23, 1940, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Eugene and Ruby (Smith) Long. He served in the Unit- ed States Army Reserve, Air Force and Navy for ten years. He moved his family to Patoka in 1985, when he was transferred from PPG in Wichita Falls, Texas, to PPG in Evansville, where he worked from 1980 -2001. He was also a member of The New Life Church of the Naz- arene in Princeton. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hess; sons, Vernon E. Long, of Princeton, and Jeff Robbins, of Terre Haute; daughters, Stefanie Hedge, of Evansville, and Jamie (Dennis) Griggs, of Las Ve- gas, Nev; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jo- anna Long; son-in-law, Ja- son Hedge; a sister, Deloris Clark; and step- sons, Ste- ven Hess and James "Crick- et" Robins.
