Retired NASA engineer speaks at WHS banquet Roger Nichols, retired NASA engineer, was the featured speaker at the Win- slow High School Alumni Association biennial ban- quet on Saturday, October 6 in Evansville. Nichols al- so met with science and en- gineering students at Pike Central on Friday, October 5 to discuss his aeronauti- cal engineering career and answered questions from the students regarding ca- reers in space exploration and space travel. Nichols graduated from Winslow High School in 1954 and from Purdue Uni- versity with a BS in Aeronau- tical Engineering in 1958. He had a 48 -year career in the space program begin- ning in 1958, the year after the first beach-ball-sized satellite, Sputnik, went in- to orbit; and ended in 2005 as the International Space Station was being assem- bled in low earth orbit. He was involved in almost all of the manned space flight pro- grams and many of the un- manned programs as well. More than 240 Winslow alumni attended weekend activities that included a golf tournament at Prides Creek Golf Course, a chili supper, both on Friday, and the Alumni banquet and fes- tivities on Saturday. The next Winslow Alumni Weekend is planned for Oc- tober 2 and 3, 2020. Photo courtesy Ceil Nichols Area Reunions Roger Nichols Amber Manor honored with Trilogy's highest customer service award Amber Manor Care Cen- ter, a Trilogy Senior Living Community has been grant- ed Trilogy Health Services' highest award in recogni- tion of their dedication to customer service. Dubbed the 'Sweet Nebraska! ' award by Trilogy President and CEO Randy Bufford, it recognizes Trilogy com- munities who scored 9.75 or above out of 10 on their Cus- tomer Satisfaction Surveys, based on feedback from res- idents and family members. Amber Manor Care Center received a 9.84 out of 10. At Trilogy's Annual Fall meet- ing, which took place Octo- ber 11-12, representatives from Amber Manor accept- ed the prestigious award amidst cheers from over 300 of their peers. "Everything we do at Am- ber Manor is for the bene- fit of those we serve," com- mented Cindi Lents, Execu- tive Director. Randall Bufford, Pres- ident and CEO of Trilogy Health Services, comment- ed, "We are very proud of the entire team at Amber Manor Care Center.
