The Unchained Gang event has been canceled. As we go into the Easter season, many of us will be practicing communion. This is an extension of the Pass- over, which also starts this week. Passover being a cel- ebration of the Jews' deliv- erance out of Egypt. While we take the wafer and juice as a symbol of Christ's sacri- fice, they partake of a meal. But each food is a reminder of what God delivered them from. It can be said for us as well. For our Egypt was the world of sin. There were four cups on the table, they repre- sented sanctification, deliv- erance, redemption and ac- ceptance. There was a fifth cup called Elijah's cup, that was not drank from as they were waiting for Elijah to proceed the coming Messi- ah. Some believe this cup was drank from at Christ's what God has called into and then step out. We have a world that is in dire need of a touch of heaven in their lives, but if we do not oper- ate in our callings they will be lost. Are you ready to ful- fill the call of God that is on your life? People are waiting. I pray that many of God's children realize it's time for revival in our lives and in our churches. May revival fire begin to burn in our churches again and may the harvest come Continued in next column Pentecostal in. In God's Service. George Bruce, Pastor Passover meal. A dip made from apples, nuts and cin- namon stood for the bricks they were forced to make. Bitter herbs-slavery (we were slaves to sin). Green vegetable, a type of pars- ley was dipped in salt water, twice, representing the re- birth and their lives brought forth in tears. Red wine, the blood that was over the door- way, that kept death out. ( Je- sus' blood gave us a way of escape from eternal death). Unleavened bread, the haste from which they had to flee. Matzah having stripes and holes, a forerunner of Christ's body. An egg, for new life, for a hen lays ev- eryday and we are given life everyday by God the Fa- ther and finally, a leaf of let- tuce, Egypt was sweet to them when Joseph was alive but became bitter after his death and they entered into slavery. (Sin can seem sweet at first but as you get deep- er into it, it becomes bitter). Just as that lettuce leaf. As Christians, our roots are deep in the Jewish cul- ture. There are many things we can learn from them. I hope you have found a nug- get in today's ad. Let us truly celebrate our Passover lamb this season. Ron Vickers, Pastor Elaine Young, Reporter, 1- 812-749 -1122 (leave a mes- sage). MAIN STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 10th and Main Streets, Petersburg 812-354-6844 Sunday worship 10 :30 a.m.; Youth group Monday evening at 6 p.m. Come vis- it us. Our doors are always open to you. While taking boxing les- sons, Timothy Keller was warned never to put his hands at his side. That po- sition leaves one's face and torso exposed to the oppo- nent. In a video on ChurchLead- ers.com, the pastor and au- thor notes that Jesus' hands weren't just out to the side on the cross; they were nailed there. "How much more vul- nerable could he be? " That vulnerability, Keller says, makes Jesus' death the ulti- mate act of friendship, which should encourage people who feel far from God. Defining friendship as candor and consistency, Kel- ler notes that friends always let you in, never let you down and always have time for you. Jesus didn't let us down on Good Friday - or on East- er. Although Jesus "has all of hell coming down on him," Keller says, our Savior pro- claimed to his father, "Not my will but thine be done." Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Boyd Heldring, Pastor Amy Melhiser, Secretary Wesleyan OTWELL WESLEYAN CHURCH 2277 N. Christ's empty grave is proof that no matter how bad things may seem, there is always hope for a new day. May God revive all your dreams and hopes this Eas- ter. Rejoice in Easter.
