Wednesday, May 1, busi- ness meeting at 6:30 p.m. "Let your light shine be- fore men, that they may glo- rify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). Our Lord regarded His followers as a select com- pany who belonged to a dif- ferent world from the rest of humanity. Many of the religious people of His day were worldly and nonspiri- tual, publicly parading their religion to impress others while privately dominated by pride, ambition, greed and falsehood. Jesus told His disciples they could not make their light shine by sinking to the world's low level. It was only by abiding in Christ and living under the ruling power of His Ho- ly Spirit that they could rise above the world. Only in that way could they be salt and light to a decaying and dark- ened world. Our influence on society depends on our likeness to Jesus Christ. We can't ele- vate others higher than we ourselves have gone. The first century Christians out-thought, out-lived and out-loved their neighbors, and by their example of pu- rity and compassion, attract- ed countless thousands to the Christian faith. What do others see in our lives that would attract them to Christ? 2018 New Beginnings: What would Jesus do? We will strive to be more like Jesus in all that we do. "And they that went be- fore, and they that followed, cried, saying Hosanna, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that co- meth in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the high- est" (Mark 11:9 -10). We are reminded time and time again that through Je- sus we have streams of liv- ing water. The Bible also says in these streams of liv- ing water, when we come in- to Christ, the old has passed away and the new has come (II Corinth. 5:17). Let this spring be a re- minder that in Jesus, the bag- gage, burdens and weight of winter can be gone, and the life and light of Christ and give way to new birth. So, as the old hymn goes; "Fix your eyes on Jesus and look full in his wonderful face." Everyone welcome. DJ Bryant, Pastor Christian VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. Jesus' Resurrection "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the Scrip- tures" (I Corinthians 15:3- 4). Jesus was seen alive by women, by the apostles, others, and five hundred at one time. All this was ful- fillment of scriptures giv- en over thousands of years of time. Today, it has been almost 2,000 years since he went away, and Christians are to faithfully look for his return. Because He lives.
