C-2 Church Wednesday, Februar y 13, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued from page 1 CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY Did you know that when a dog sees their human, their brain secretes the same substances as ours when we are in love? This week, PAWS is fea- turing a true sweetheart named Tank, a fun-lov- ing fellow who would play ball all day, if he could. He is very gregarious and spunky, and appears to have some Basenji her- itage. He is a compact, muscular dog with a trot- ting gait. He has a smooth, short-haired silky coat of tan fur with a white chest and two white-tipped paws. Tank is approxi- mately one year old, and is a medium-sized fellow. He would love to be some- one's special valentine this week. To adopt Tank, call 812- 354-9894. It's by one of the means by which God transforms us. Every time we praise and worship Him, His presence comes to dwell in us and changes our hearts and allows the Ho- ly Spirit to soften them in- to whatever He wants them to be. Because praise and worship is not something our flesh naturally wants to do, we have to will ourselves to do it. And because it's not the first thing we think of to do, we have to decide to do it no matter of our circum- stances. We have to say, "I will praise the Lord." Of course, the more we get to know God, the easi- er praise becomes. When we get to the point where we can't keep from praising WINSLOW G.B. CHURCH 600 E. Be in prayer for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love, because every- one is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. Love is one of the most powerful ways that we can tell people about Christ, by showing them the love he gave to us through our ac- tions towards others. As Christians, we know that God gave us the greatest gift of love by giving his on- ly son to die for our sins. In saying that, understandably showing love to others can sometimes be very hard, especially in certain situ- ations that happen in our lives. Even in the hardest of times as Christians, we should strive to show love to all in everything we do. For God loves everyone no matter how unlovable they are or think they are. Franklin St. Oakland City 812-677-2508 Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The Christian Life What a blessing it is to serve God and know Christ as our savior, for soon and very soon, we shall see the Lord. To obey God is to seek His will, and apply ourselves to it, but there is more. Have you ever noticed that? • We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but are re- quired to fight the good fight of faith, and no man that warreth, entangleth him- self, and we should certainly not think it strange concern- ing our fiery trials. Even though war should rise up against us, and we are cast down, all that live godly in Christ Jesus must still suf- fer persecution. Following are some gen- uine marks of true love: • True love will be loy- al through life's disappoint- ments, reverses or afflic- tions. • True love will not for- sake the old friends for the new, and will not betray a friend for personal advan- tage. • True love will not walk rough-shod over the stan- dards or convictions of good people. • True love becomes stronger with the passing years. • True love is sacrificial. • True love is marked by humility. • True love is strong, but never harsh. • True love is imparted by God Himself who is the author of love. When we have true love, we share in God's holiness.
