By Ed Cahill Press-Dispatch Sports Editor sports@pressdispatch.net It was a classic case of good news and bad news when the Pike Central High School boys' bas- ketball team hosted Tell City on Friday, Feb. 8. The good news? Trailing 16 -10 at the end of the first period, the Chargers – who had jumped out to an 8 -5 lead – held Tell City to just nine points in the second quarter. The bad news? "I thought, defensively, the first half, we were really good. We held them to nine in the second quarter. They kind of came out in that third quarter and jumped on us a little bit, though." A fter Tell City took a 3-0 lead on a three-point- er by senior Trent Arnold, a three-pointer by se- nior Hayden Kabrick and a pair of free throws by senior Judah Leathco spurred the Chargers to a 5 -3 lead with 5:26 remaining in the first quarter. Tell City answered with a 9 -0 scoring run featuring back-to-back baskets by Beard and senior Spencer Fest, a free throw by Arnold and a three-pointer by senior Tretter Lyons to take a 13-8 lead with 2:23 remaining in the first quarter.
