Ed Cahill photo By Ashley Willis Congratulations, Pike County! Pike County was awarded an 80/20 grant from the Indi- ana Department of Transpor- tation to widen, upgrade and improve CR 300 N. and up- grade the railroad crossing. This is a major win for eco- nomic development for the heavy industrial sites that are in the master planned ar- ea and rail-served by the I-69 interchange. The road infra- structure will allow traffic to comfortably pass through the area and make our sites more attractive for development. It's also help- ing our existing employer with the imme- diate needs of Indiana Southern Railroad. The grant award totals $2,952,000 for CR 300 N. includes upgrading and wid- ening the roadway from State Road 61 to the railroad, and includes the railroad up- grades and a small bridge improvement. CR 300 N. is the number one critical piece of infrastructure for business attraction. When we conducted the master plan and put together our action plan, and priori- tized infrastructure needs, CR 300 N. was at the top of the list. Several of our heavy indus- trial projects need rail for their business requirements and we can deliver that, and now our roads will also be wide enough for heavy haul to easily pass through. This grant award took great collaboration from a collec- tive team and the EDC wants to give them a huge thank you for their support and help in the application process: Pike Coun- ty Commissioners, Pike County Council, Pike County Highway Department, Bow- man Family Holdings, Indiana Southern Railroad, and INDOT. Economic develop- ment is a team sport and we have a terrif- ic team. Thank you, everyone!
